Title: I think about Georgia Tech . . .

and I think back to BigJku's lengthy post on phognet about how you can't win in a "big time" conference running an option offense.

I still have my doubts about it working long-term (only because of recruiting).  But they've done better than I expected.

Had they hired him, Paul Johnson would have turned NU into a monster. It would have been a perfect fit.

100% agree.  Especially w/regards to recruiting.  It's not like the triple-option has been "figured out", its simply had its talent base removed.

That offense would dominate the Big XII, particularly in light of the trend in recruiting lighter, faster LBs and DBs to stop the spread. You don't see defenses like we used to put out on the field with a bunch of 6'2'' 245 Ibs. ILBs recruited for the sole purpose of stopping the option and power run games.

To add even more irony.  I believe GT plays at ku next season and the Jayhawks visit Atlanta in 2011.
