Snyder also said he’s been fielding a few pitches himself. Snyder, who wrote an open letter asking K-State fans to support Prince, revealed he’s been contacted by other colleges gauging his interest in making a coaching comeback in 2007.
“I’ve had a call or two,” Snyder told The Star on Thursday. He would not reveal the colleges that contacted him.
Would Snyder, 67, consider a return? He didn’t rule it out. “I’m going to wait till the season’s over and see how I feel about it. At this point, I’m comfortable,” Snyder said. “I have had no anxiety attacks.”
I honestly think Snyder returning to coaching is a trainwreck waiting to happen.

Why did he ever retire?
-
Is this related to the letter? People would go absolutely berzerk if Snyder was in a bowl and we weren't.

Why did he ever retire?
He knew he needed to fire assistants and couldn't bring himself to doing it.
Now that I think about it, he would be a dream offensive coordinator for someone like Oklahoma...I don't see him having much success as a head coach again, though.

Forever grateful and forever a Wildcat,
Bill Snyder
Snyder's letter wasn't really about Prince. It was "thank you and goodbye." He's cleaning out his office right now.
-
You can take the man out of coaching, but you can't take coaching out of the man. If you really love coaching, it would be tough to stay away. The circumstances at K-State forced him to retire on his own, but it wasn't the grand, well-thought out plan we all expected. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see him coaching again somewhere next year.

I wouldn't put it past Bill to have success. I think if he goes to the right program (i.e. one that was in a similar situation to KSU when he took over, although maybe not as bleak) he'd have "success". Now, if he went to North Carolina I think it'd be a train wreck. He'd have to go to a UTEP-like school.

I think that would force me to pay $10 just to watch the largest meltdown in KSU history unfold on gp.com.

I posted over there that we are starting to look more and more like the Nebraska fans after Solich replaced Osborne. Those fans that we detested and made fun of on a daily basis. Sucks when the shoe is on our foot.
-
If he does in fact coach somewhere that is not KSU it will be iteresting to see how long it takes for his god-like status to quickly go away in Kansas. I think a high percentage of Cat fans will feel betrayed by the old man.

I'm sure it was completely ignored like most of your great posts over there are.

I think that is dead on. From the rumors, it sure sounds like Ron Prince isn't going to have the same problem. I applaud him for that.

Maybe he feels that's necessary in some odd way...he could be thinking that no head coach could truly be successful with his current status among KSU fans.
Or, we could be looking entirely too much into all of this. :)

Stan Weber opines.

IMO, that board has been like that for a long time...
:)
I don't understand why everyone thinks it's such a stretch that he would be an OC somewhere, either major D-1 or Pro...He could play with film and x's and o's to his hearts content and not have to deal with all the BS I think he hated about the Head Coaching job, etc...
And Rusty, the Meltdown is already starting.

No need to buy the book when you just read the cliff notes online (ie thread titles).
-
If you are an OC you have to answer to the head coach. At this point I can't imagine Snyder would want to answer to anyone.
-
I agree. I think it is more likely that he would be a head coach than a coordinator.

Or, I PM jayhox and he could fill me in.

There's a friendly Husker fan that usually alerts me concerning any goings on with KSU football....and GP.com.
If a coach like say....Coach Prince, were to hire him as OC, they would be silly to make him do anything but coach the offense, and leave him alone. The man is a genius when it comes to coaching that side of the ball.
-
I could possibly see him going to the NFL as a coordinator for a running QB. I know Norm Chow is the OC at Tennessee, but i could see Bill working with someone like Young or Vick in the NFL. I am not sure i see him going to a struggling BCS school to turn them around.
-
I'd be real interested to see what he could do with an NFL offense...
Just a sick perversion I guess.
-
snyder to ku.
he took the year off to recruit and develop contacts. why can't he still be our coach?!?!
i'll follow him like cincy fans follow huggins.
-
"I'd be real interested to see what he could do with an NFL offense.."
Did you see the hit that trent Green took during the Cincinnatti game?

Are you older than about 16, and remember what he was like in the early 90's?
-
Chad May and Brian Kavannah were awesome in the QB run game. :)
Just to think about, a move like Snyder's isn't unprecedented by any means; see Vince Lombardi.
Disclaimer:This does not mean Snyder's letter was some secret coded goodbye letter, just something to think about.

&@#%ing crap.
He's already gone. Just waiting for the season to end.
I don't necessarily want him to NOT coach, but I think I would be torn to shreds if we ever had to play against him.

Bob Stoops probably offered him the OC job at OU. LOL just thinking of the EPIC meltdown that would occur on KSU boards if that ever happened.
Oh. Dear. Lord. Snyder...coaching...at OU...with Stoops. Can't...breathe...tears...in eyes...laughing...too hard.
It would just so totally turn every KSU fan's world upside down...such a kick in the nuts that all you could do is laugh.

It does kinda seem like a farewell letter. Timing still wouldn't make much sense though.

I don't want Snyder doing anything that makes him happy, if I don't want him to do it

I know he was in Tempe visiting ASU a couple weeks ago, apparently their pitching him harder than my cock after a Jenna Jameson vid.

i think it would be interesting if snyder went to be an OC for phil bennett at SMU and bennett gave him complete control of the offense.

if we pay him enough we could get him to be our OC instead of Franklin...
Think about it! Freeman running the option

My inside source says that Coach is perfectly happy in retirement and that there is no chance he will accept another coaching job.
-
When a coach says something like, "I'm not interested," it means that he might be. When a coach says something like "I might be interested," it means that he is very interested.
