Title: young talent to be excited about
Post by: Waggs on November 05, 2009, 08:28:23 PM
Chris Harper, no matter what position he ends up at...although he might be a total beast at linebacker
Sammuel Lamur, QB--reports indicate he has solid talent, let's hope he can learn the offense
Jarell Childs, RB--may end up playing some FB and serving as the "big" back once Thomas graduates, could be interesting to see if he's ever considered at LB
John Hubert, RB--a good call by Snyder redshirting him
Tim Flanders, RB--see Hubert
DeMarcus Robinson, RB (I hope he remains a solid commit!)
Braden Wilson, FB--has been solid for a freshman, may end up seeing more time as a TE / H-back
Brodrick Smith, WR
Tramaine Thompson, WR--see Hubert
Collin Klein, WR--I think he'll stay at WR and end up being a solid player
Travis Tannahill, TE
Clyde Aufner, OL--might be K-State's next NFL offensive lineman (if not Weibert)...admittedly, neither will probably be high draft picks
Colten Freeze, OL
Cornelius Lucas, OL--I've been hearing very good things about him
Will Lawson, OL
Keenan Taylor, OL--one of the few times OSU jumped in after us and we still bagged the recruit
Adam Davis, DE--all indications are that this guy is the real deal
Raphael Guidry, DT
All the incoming JUCO DTs--we'll need these guys to be ready immediately next year
Joseph Kassanavoid, DE--I could also see him eventually getting in the mix at TE, if not still at DE, but probably not at QB
Clarence Bumpas, LB--I hope he develops because we REALLY, REALLY need some talent at the linebacker positions...are you listening Lamark and Chris Harper? :)
Darious Thomas, CB--we need to recruit a lot more cornerbacks!  It's a good thing we got this guy.
Emmanuel Lamur, S--it's great that he's still just a sophomore
Tysyn Hartman, S--see Emmanuel Lamur
Thomas Ferguson, S
Torrell Miller, S--Lamur, Hartman, Ferguson, and Miller ensure that we will be solid at the safety position for several seasons

Oops!  I left out Brandon Harold...can't forget him or Kadero Terrell.  Also, all the junior college placements that are tearing it up (Marcus Kennard, Meshack Williams, and Angelo Pease) are encouraging.

Can confirm that Brodrick Smith will be a legit heisman candidate.

Pending Harold deciding not to be a FP, TC, Etc. you can prolly go ahead and continue to leave him out....

I think Dunn had some legit talent.  Would've thrived in Snyder's offense pre-Bish.  Or the one we have now even.  But it was so QB-run based by the time he got here it was Roberson's to lose.  I like to think at least Dunn played a part in pushing Roberson to get better.

yeah but he has never had more than about 3 potential starters on the roster at the same time.  With Lamur, Coffman, & Harper all there next year and Pease a year away, maybe a scholly to a Juco QB has slid down the totem pole.

Harper doesn't play QB in practice.  That's fact and not just opinion of message board posters.  I still hold out hope that he pulls it together as I had huge hopes for him being the next Roberson.

Agreed. That is why I'm saying maybe a JUCO QB isn't a high priority. Scholly's for upperclassmen QBs are limited. Had not heard anything about Harper and QB.  I don't have any insidery sources.  If he isn't showing potential to be a QB, that could change the need for a Juco QB in this class.

He's at Hutch with Adam Davis and Angelo Pease. Pease and Williams being 2009 signees who were placed. Davis a verbal.

Marcus Kennard the other sign and place is at Butler.
9 GP, 20 rec., 397 yards, 4 TDs

Bubba Brown is at Jones County Mississippi JC. Probably throwing the best block parties within 5 miles of the Mississippi.

I hope QB.  But, my money is on WR.  From what I've heard Snyder is actually taken with Lamur.  Harper works out with the QBs but when it comes time to play scout team Lamur is the QB and he's a WR. But, I hold out hope.  Do you not see Ell in this:

No, you were just spoiled by DoD talent.

Dunn was a decent athlete and had a good arm.  There had to be some reason he was considered one of the best JUCO players in the country when he signed with us.  There was a reason he at least got an NFL team to look at him after he was done at K-State.

Coffman is more like Schwinn.

That makes sense good to get your best athletes on the field to give the D a look.  This week Brod Smith can be Briscoe and Harper can be Meier.  Lamur must be Reesing not sure if they are making Lamur and Harper actually sleep together though.   If they really wanted to give a true picture they probably would.

Seems to me we will have quite a bit of talent at WR next year ( Smith, Harper(maybe),Thompson, Lamark). You think we will try to get them more involved in the offense next year? I mean we have a tremendous weapon with Lamark this year and he pretty much does nothing but be awesome at Special Teams. I know GG isn't a polished passer, but I am curious how next year will be. QB play will be key, IMO.

Our WRs will be talented next year, but also somewhat inexperienced.  However, having Daniel Thomas back and several returning offensive linemen will be HUGE.  I think our running game will be even better next year.  It will be really interesting to see who ends up as the starting QB.

I like this argument, both you guys seem so sure of yourselves, and your "sources".
I personally hope he is playing QB, and would be damn surprised if it has been determined already that he isn't going to be a QB, we all know how Snyder is and how he makes decisions.  We also know how adamant Chris was that he would be playing QB.

Our running game will certainly improve, having a big stallion at QB (whoever it is).

There's one certainty in college football and that is that no one can stop a QB run game.

I am without a doubt pulling for Harper at QB, because he has the potential to annihilate defenses, but I will be less disappointed if he is not it, as long as he touches the ball 10 times per game.

I can't remember the last time every single player on the roster was so amazing, but I'm pretty sure Snyder was the coach at the time.  The only thing missing from this thread is a long string of media guide glamour head shots for us to salivate over.
