at this point in the discussion...fbc4life (a great emaw'er)....has to boil the convo down to what it really is. ku phans not wanting to admit that Mangino has failed and their baby fit tantrums for benching Reesing have got to be the dumbest idea in the history of sports.
A lot of you are really dense.
For starters...I never switched the topic. I made a comment, someone refuted it, and I asked a follow up question about the original topic. How is that changing the subject?
Second off......you can say all you want about Hadl or Whittemore. I'm not discounting those guys at all. The truth is....you have to make one heck of an arguement to say that either one did MORE for your program than Reesing has.
Trust me....you guys are not recruiting the state of Texas as well as you are if it wasn't for Reesing. You guys are not getting guys like MacDougald to come to ku to play WR when they could be signing with tOSU. Do you remember Kerry Meier? Do you remember how he single handedly kept other teams in games? Do you remember how you guys had the potential to win 9 games that year...but instead sat home for the holidays at 6-6? Todd changed all that. He took a team that had never had a winning record in the big 12 to the freaking Orange Bowl. That team had a good defense...but you guys lose at KSU, OSU, and could have potentially dropped games at aTm and CU as well.
You think your program would be on the rise right now as much as it is if instead of 12-1 and an Orange Bowl in 07 you went 9-4 with an Alamo Bowl win? Todd changed everything for you.
The sad thing is....you have not been able to capitalize with him. You have failed miserably at replacing the championship caliber D that you had. You have failed miserably at developing any form of run game to keep pressure off him and help ku eat clock and be less predictable.
Todd will absolutely be tough to replace. I will never say a person is irreplaceable because KSU followed up Bishop with Beasley who won 11 games twice. But it is difficult. It takes luck and for a lot of other guys to step up. The truth is...you may never have a talented leader like that for a long long time. The fact that you guys are shrugging him off and saying you'll be just fine without him is ridiculous. You guys owe him everything.
If anything...Todd should be pissed at you guys. He should be frustrated with his coaches. He should be bitching at the defense. He never has and he never will. I hate standing up for a guy that I hate but he deserves it. You have done nothing to help him. It will not be Todd's fault if you don't when the north in his tenure.
