My understanding is that he is considered more of a "greyshirt-type" prospect at this point, but will enroll in classes and be eligible to practice/play at semesters end.

Negative.  IF the NCAA has cleared him, he can practice today (assuming he's enrolled in classes).
He won't be eligible to play until Dec 17th.

Walker has been cleared by the Clearinghouse but he hasn't been cleared by the team doctors because he has AIDS.

The NBA doesn't want guys with AIDS. Except Magic Johnson. But he had a great smile, although his talk show was awful. So suck it Walker, you're never gonna get a talk show.

The NBA has a "full year out of high school rule."  That means Walker will have to wait until after the 2007-2008 season to go NBA.
