GRCOAT was a long shot to begin with, and it’s still a long shot, but it is by no means an impossible reality. With two down and two to go I personally think that Pope is more of the unknown than Mayo. I have a gut feeling that when Mayo sees Walker playing for K-State, especially in that game in Cincinnati against Xavier that he is sure to be at, that he will come around and land at Manhattan next year. Pope, on the other hand, is a mystery to all, possibly including Pope!

The Bearcat fans need to buy in to GRCOAT a bit more. Have faith.

too bad he'll be in west virginia

I am an official "GCROAT hater". I dont want Mayo or Pope. But thats mostly because neither will show up and they will both eat scholarships. Some people dont seem to care about that, its all about saying gcroat.

Huntington is only a one hour or so drive from Cincinnati, and Mayo still has a lot of friends in the area. So unless his HS has a game that Wedsnesday night (which would be a really odd day of the week for a HS game!) Mayo will be at the K-State-Xavier game! And since the game will be televised I would bet that we will all get to see his beaming face on the tube to prove it...

sweet
my geography sucks

1) Blair is just about as big an academic risk as Pope.
2) The chance of getting Mayo is worth giving up a scholarship for a year.

i'd give up 4 schollies for mayo

Rusty, your persistence in pursuing the Mayo dream is admirable, especially after J-Mart pretty much told you its impossible.
Regardless, this class will be the best we've ever seen and the best in KSU basketball history. If you parlay BW into next year's class, you're talking 2 consensus Top 10 kids in the same class. Just looking at the RSCI since 98, that's only happened 7 times in that time span. This is going to be a very good class, especially if we can pull in Sutton and Pope.

Snart, you are so full of Sh%t. Ive passed through Hunington and its more like 5 or 6 hours. Dont act like you know where OJ Mayo will be that night.

I don't really have much to do with it, but I think I would prefer this:
1) Walker
2) Beasley
3) Pullen
4) Brown
5) Evans
6) 15% chance of Mayo or 85% empty/desperation recruit
over this:
1) Walker
2) Beasley
3) Pullen
4) Brown
5) Evans
6) Sutton
Nice to know I'm admired for my conviction. :)

Mapquest says 3 hours. You are both wrong! :fiesta:

np Rusty. :)
I forgot about Evans, if he keeps his nose clean he's a Cat. I think it will shake out like this:
Beasley
Walker
Brown
Pullen
Evans
Sutton/Pope
*Sutton/Pope/???
*I won't be completely shocked if we don't have 6 to give next year, even with Walker coming in this year.

First off Huntington is not 5 or 6 hours away unless you drive at 20 miles per hour, or if you are lost. Which one are you?
Second off, why wouldn’t OJ be there? One of his best friends will be playing in the game, it will be on national TV so Mayo will certainly get some much desired exposure, and it would be my bet that if Huggins has any pull whatsoever he will take steps to see that Mayo is in attendance.
And finally, and most importantly, why are you acting like such a &@#%ing asshole about this? Why don’t you want to see Mayo end up at K-State? And don’t be me that bull crap about wasting a scholarship because the one year returns and the national exposure we would get from Mayo for outweighs a scholarship that would have otherwise gone to another 2-star guard. So what is your agenda in this because whatever it is it is not in the best interest of K-State or Huggins.

Well, 3 hours is not 1 hour. I must of been thinking of Charlston instead of Hunington. But anyway, I would much rather see Sutton get the scholarship than Mayo. If their is another scholarship opened and theres no one else to get, then fine give it to Mayo. Even though hes going to bring sanctions along with him. Anyways, hes not coming, so stop worrying about it.

Huggins?!?

Rusty, what if we signed this? :
1) Walker
2) Beasley
3) Pullen
4) Brown
5) Evans
6) Sutton
7) Pope
8 ) Mayo if he committs/is eligble to play college basketball

No, I just posted that randomly. :)

-
well if we were gonna free up 2 more scholarships, you'd have to assume yearby and kent are the most likely...
-
With the Sutton commitment and Walker news that we already assumed:
Walker
Beasley
Sutton
Pullen
Brown
Evans
Evans will be a Cat.
That fills us up until/unless someone departs.
-
unless someone departs.
Somebody will not be there for one reason or another, and it won't be Huggins kicking them out to get their scholarship. It just always seems that somebody gets pissed at lack of playing time, of being recruited over, or they can't make the grade to qualify, so to get to the 13 allowed schoralships you have to over-recruit in anticipation of this situation...
-
So, RSCI-wise:
#4 Michael Beasley
#8 Bill Walker
#80 Dominique Sutton
#72 (05) Tyree Evans
UR Jacob Pullen
UR Fred Brown
260 RSCI points (if you count Evans in) which would be Top 5 in any year, but not quite NC's 429 point class (!) from last year.
