John Blake was a recruiting machine at OU, but couldn't coach for crap.

Seem to remember Cats won in Norman something, like 28-0. With Bennett and Ryan, OU had a pretty good defense.
Remember watching the game a year earlier in Manhattan. OU made a late comeback throwing the ball, until the inevitable interceptions. Two OU students started giving me and my brother $hit about how Blake was going to turn them around. He convinced Sooner nation of that with that game, in fact. I think that near miss alone got him another couple of years.

This guy was in attendance for this one. Remember having a feeling that there was no way K-State would lose. Remember @ half time running to a bar across the street from the stadium where it packed.

I remember we scored a TD on a 5 yard pass play where no Sooner defender bothered to cover the WR at the line of scrimage.  Was pretty sweet hearing the home town fans reaction after that play.  Also, many loser OU fans called in after the game to complain about Bishop's "cockiness".  That was great.

Some of the KSU fans that made the trip were giving one or two OU players hell for not commiting to KSU.  Might have been Rocky Calmus and one other who's name escapes me.  In the end, they made the right choice, but really, they were lucky.  At the time these players were being recruited to KSU it really riled up Sooner nation.  They still hadn't come to terms with their suckiness and our rise.  It was a 3 day topic on sports radio.

And the bar across the street is O'Connell's.
