Title: CU-KSU x's and o's thread
Post by: fatty fat fat on October 19, 2009, 11:45:43 PM
Has N E 1 seen their rushing defense stats? well, let me fill you in.

that's 38 yards given up in two games. vs ut and ku.

I still think hansen is a terrible thrower, but guys like houlik/herbec will need to "contain their gaps" because he can run v. good.

thoughts?

they haven't seen a play-action as legendary as ours though, they'll be all  :ohno: we can't tel if it's a pass or a run til it's too late..

 <-----Hawk on the sideline after DT goes for 150 yds

Hansen's a decent passer with a strong arm. Gotta remember he hasn't seen much game time. Certainly not likely to get any easier for him against KSU but still. And I wouldn't say he ever really acted like he had poise in the pocket against ku (being as there WAS no pocket), but his improvisation and legs made him a hell of a lot more dangerous than "Sack Lunch" Hawkins.

The other thing to remember about CU and their run defense is that they are ridiculously elite at stuffing teams in short yardage situations. You're better off with a 3rd & 8 than 3rd and inches against them.

And they have inklings of a run game despite an O-line that is performing way beneath expectations. Other than that I really have no observations. Neither CU or KSU has enough consistency to even begin to pick a winner in this one.

True.  I don't see us scoring a ton of points on them.  Hopefully we get a special teams or defensive score, or at least see some really short fields.  I see this being more like a 20-13 type of game.

Their rush D has been good their last two games, but ku can't run the ball on anybody and UT had their two best running backs out when they played CU (plus our rivals always give up on the run way too early).

WVU had around 260 rushing yards on them, 220 coming from Devine alone, and Toledo had 305 yards rushing against them.

Just don't get behind early, ride our horse DT early and often, mix in a few play-action passes, and we'll have the starters resting before the fourth quarter starts.

I don't really see why that game would be any more relevant or irrelevant than any other.

I think that if we jump on them early and gain an early lead the crowd will be nuts. With a new QB for them and a rowdy atmosphere, we could pile it on. The key is to gain that early advantage and get the crowd into it imo. I really don't think CU is a very good team. If this was in Boulder, though, the game would be alot tougher for us.

What's the story with CU's running game?  I think our run defense has been relatively stout this season.  Our secondary (with exception to TTech) has been pretty salty as well.  I like how our D stacks up against teams like CU.  Especially at home.

I don't see them scoring 17-20ish points.

Can we put up more points than that?  Their run defense may be pretty good, but I like Thomas' ability to move the ball.  I also like Gregory's ability to move around in the pocket when things break down up front.

I see us rushing for at least one score, passing for one score, and picking up a few cheap scores purely because of the great field position that Banks will give us.

Prediction:  KSU 27 - CU 17.

Run right at them at first, no dicking around with counters, run some option as well.

QFT. Their DE's are pretty young and inexperienced. Confuse them a little bit at first, then run straight at 'em...

That is my question.  I'm feeling a little freaked out that Cu has a kilt coach now.
