snyder won a game after 30 some games of losing trust me i wasn't even alive and i know people all wanted snyder back for another season
That's right. Fans were thrilled when that happened and we were more than willing to give him time. Snyder improved a little every year. Where's the patience with Prince? He should be given the same courtesy in my view. Bitching at this point shows a total lack of perspective. Anyone can bitch. I have a greater solution to those that offer solutions and push the ball foreward/program. [Thumbs up] [Thumbs up]

Wrong. Snyder inherited a trainwreck. Snyder deserved 1-2 years on top of what Prince deserves. We'll see next year how much he can improve the team.
-
Nonsense ... Snyder walked into nothing.
Hell, there was more money spent on facilities between the day Prince got hired, and his first game at KSU, then Snyder got in his first 2 years.

You guys are retarded.
No one.. and I mean NO ONE gave Snyder a chance at turning the program around. When they hired him, they said he'd get the same fate as all the other coaches. Colbert even told him that if he started winning, he should leave.
When KSU started winning games, people started to believe but it wasn't until he went to a bowl game did they start to believe this was real. Even in Snyder's fourth year, they went 5-6 and while many thought he was doing well, a lot of people thought that might be the best he could do. Futility U was named for a reason, and it was quite a hurdle to get over.
Expectations were much lower back then than they are now. Fans expect much more simply because they've gotten used to winning. Programs that change head coaches RARELY IF EVER have a winning season. Prince shouldn't be expected to do so well. He talks a great game, but it's one thing to talk, another to walk.
I bet he starts walking next year.

I guess the "Snyder walked into nothing" ... part of my post just lost you huh MJ??

If you check the quote, you'll see I didn't include you.
I guess I should have put the "except (disassociated) sonofdaxjones." when I said "you guys."

trust me i wasn't even alive
That's all I needed to read about your post. You have no idea just how crappy the program was at that time, and how we began seeing positive results of his effort, almost immediately.
Our standards should be just a little bit higher in 2006 than it was in 1989.

DASOD ... that sounds good.

Absolutely. The question is, what are people's standards in a new coach's first year?

da'SOD is in da HOUZZ!

The real difference in the acceptance of LSnyder and Prince is two-fold.
Under "The Legend", there was constant and noticable improvement from week to week, month to month, and season to season for about 15 seasons. Granted, when he started, we had nowhere to go but up. Yet, the fans, alums, players, etc. were all seeing improvement.
Now, we stand at a crossroads as things have dropped off to the point where we need forward progress. We can rise again, or we can fall farther down the pecking order in college football. So far, even with PLENTY of room for improvement from last season, I'm just not seeing a whole lot of progress.
Snyder also came from far more experience, with infinitely more offensive design concepts than our current coach. I still have yet to see, either through past Virginia statistics or current K-State play, just what it is that has everybody so enamored with Prince besides his public speaking ability.

This season we have yet to snap the ball into a punt formation without a punter on the field.

This season we have yet to snap the ball into a punt formation without a punter on the field.
We also scored a touchdown in every game, and at least two touchdowns in every game but one.
I'll gladly take the offensive prowess of last years team over a single bone-headed blunder.
-
I'm not writing off Prince yet. It was a gamble hire and I'm not convinced he's not a good coach. All I'm saying is that saying we should be as patient with Prince as we were with Snyder is ludicrous.
-
Prince deserves some patience, but its hard to say he deserves the same patience Snyder got. Two different men in two completely different situations. For example, Prince will never make it through his first 5 years with out a bowl appearance.

That single bone-headed play represented everything that had gone wrong within our program.

Prince needs time to get a new system in place, this is very similar to Callahan stepping in at NU. We will take lumps this season and hopefully get a bowl next, though its not out of the question yet this year. The defense has been a marked improvement in most games this year and given some experience the team should improve. If snyder was here I have no doubt we probably wouldnt have a better record now but I would be confident in us winning 3 of our last 4. If Prince keeps this pace and doesn't reach a bowl, I think he has 3 seasons.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The staff outside of Snyder was as, if not more, responsible for our mediocrity the last couple of seasons than Snyder himself.

Wait... was the intarnet even alive when Snyder took over the Cats? How can you possibly compare the two if there were no bbs' complaining about the livin legend? :nahnah:
-
prince basically has two priorities left to keep the masses in the fold.
1. beat ku
2. get to 6 wins
0/2=prince already on hot seat
1/2=disapointment, but "our def improved, freeman offers hope for future"
2/2=strong optimism going forward

Who's enamored? Not me. Prince had minimal time to recruit last year. He was recruiting right out of the blue (NO BASE, NO HISTORY). Yes, the program is still way ahead of where Snyder took the program over. Prince is working on his first full year as the head coach of KSU. His first year. Lets see how well his recruiting goes from here on out. Keep in mind he is in the process of revamping everythiing. Enamored no but willing to let this guy have a reasonable shot at success. We will never have another Snyder. You just can't go hire another Snyder. That guy is not out there. If Prince succeeds it will be his way. Like Jrod points out it took time for Snyder to impliment his vision. Prince deserves nothing less! If he feels to much pressure to soon We will be the ones' to doom the program not Prince! Now that is the facts! So far I like what I see in Prince. JMO
