I'm guessing Pitino is hooking Theus up.
Peete could be playing with Pope next season.

I think Pitino should be looking into a JUCO for Pope next year because it sure doesn't look like he will qualify for Div 1...

He's now showing a KSU visit next weekend.

Awesome news.
-
Wasn't KSU listed as low interest yesterday but now that he has a visit scheduled we're NO INTEREST?? Seems weird. How is interest derived, if a scheduled visit is not interest?
Either way,

I desperately hope Pope is still being considered and maybe he is if he is visiting.
He seems like exactly the type of player that Huggins would turn into an incredible warrior.
-
I wonder if Pope decides to come to K-State if we could talk him into punching a horse for us...

Wow, how many So Long burgers has Fitz put on since that pic? Geesh.

or not  Personally, I dont even understand why Huggs is still recruiting Pope. Theres a pretty good chance he wont even qualify, and if he does, hes going to cause major chemistry problems just like he has on every team he has ever played for. Hes the Chris Henry of college basketball. Hed be a good fit at a place like NMS because they dont have to worry about taking a risk, because their alternative is sucking. KSU will be just fine without him.

Maybe Huggins considers himself to be about done with recruiting for 2007 and is willing to keep recruiting Pope in case he gets his crap together and/or someone doesn't work out.
With six 2007 scholarships to give, he could very well be finished:
1) Beas
2) Sky
3) Pullen
4) Brown
5) Evans (?)
6) Sutton (?)

Weren't Cincinnati teams traditionally filled with players just like Pope?
Attitude and skill set/body type?

Speaking of, I saw Fatz rolling around before the Oklahoma State game in some high waters and purple hiking boots.
And no, I'm not kidding......
Man, I wished I had a camera on me at the time.

Can anybody link to a (semi-)trustworthy source that says Pope may not qualify? It seems to me that the rumors about Herb not being able to qualify started around the time Huggins and Co. backed off of him a little bit. Consequently, I'm a little skeptical. And no, I don't think bad grades are the only reasonable explanation for the waning interest of big-time programs. I am, however, glad to hear that Herb is back in the picture...if only because I'm a GREATCOAT hardliner.

Beautiful image.

He's one of the original four. The Beatles always stuck with Ringo, didn't they?

Good point. I think the only place I've heard that from is sys.

That's just beautiful, simply beautiful.

if he is in fact visiting, he's ours
3/4 of GRCOAT isn't bad, considering all the drama
-
3/4? 3/4?! O.J. can't destroy something so beautiful.

If Walker starts at semester, wouldn't he be classified as a 2006 recruit? He wouldn't count toward one of the 2007 scholies would he?

Somebody should have told Blair that...

It doesn't matter if he's 2006 or 2007. If Walker is classified as 2006, then we have 5 available scholarships for 2007.

i could sort of tell blair wasn't too excited about ksu. i think he didn't mention ksu in some updates. blair had options...we're pope's last chance at attending a big time school (at least i hope we'll be "big time").
-
Sorry, I don't track this quite as well as many of you but, isn't Blair a PF...and isn't Beasley a PF. Maybe they played a little while they were in Manhattan and Blair decided he didn't want to drink Beasley's sweat for 2 yrs.

I never really thought about this until now. I kind of figured we could find a way to put Blair and Beasley on the floor at the same time. There might be something to this...
-
also, pope may have size to be a 4, but he really plays like a 3. pope may not be very athletic, but his skill level and talent is ridiculous. can you imagine the size ksu would have?
pg - stewart - 6'4''
sg - walker - 6'6''
sf - pope - 6'8''
pf - beasley - 6'9''
c - benneck - 7'3''
our center was 6'8'' last year
-
Yeah, with Beasley in the fold (even if for 1 year), its going to be tough to bring in another Top 100 kid at PF. Those kids expect to go somewhere and "be the guy" and I don't think that will happen here. Sutton makes more sense since he's a SF guy, and if we get another big it might be a guy more like Colon.
-
You will find that Huggins doesn’t buy into the strict player position thing. He wants highly athletic players that can perform a number of roles, like a forward being able to go outside to defend or a guard being able to drive on the basket and rebound, so it is not by any means beyond reason that two, and maybe even three, power forward type players would be on the floor at the same time. The same goes for guards. At times Huggins will have two points, two swing players and a forward on the floor at the same time...

Evridge's eye creeps me out in that photo. Kinda like Stuart Scott or Sandy Duncan.
