Closing two elementary schools, trying to sell one then remembering that they couldn't sell it because the city owned the land, then having to re-open one like two years later because of completely unforeseen enrollment increases.

People actually voting for Kites as being America's greatest college(?) sports bar, on some random obscure website, and then being really excited that they won their make up contest that only they participated in.

Is this along the lines of this thread? I find the drop box pretty convenient so I'm not sure if I'm correctly making fun of Manhattan.

I know, I'm going to open a bar in Aggieville that is expensive, crappy and will cater to underage girls.  I will also be closed 90% of the time for remodeling.  I think I will also name this bar after my dog and install cement floors with drains everywhere so he can sh1t and pee everywhere.

The Manhattan Zoo (really we have zoo? seems strange for a city for our size) has an incredibly old grizzly bear who lives on a crapty concrete slab, but he can't be moved to a nicer area, because he's so used to his crap life, that anything remotely nicer would cause him to die immediately.

Many years ago when Garth Brooks had his second concert in town, my parents decided they wanted to go to the show and get a room somewhere.  Jeffy tried to find one everywhere, but the only thing he could get was the westwood.  I think I might have stayed up a little later and drove back to Abilene than stay there, but stay they did.  Said it had mirrors on the ceiling.

But, in the event that said bar gets over run by the Bushwackers crowd, you can just close again. Remodel some more and open back up with a smaller bar that has craptier service

The 3rd St/Tuttle Creek Blvd/Bluemont clusterfrank (especially before they built the light on Leavenworth)

The low speed limit on Anderson all the way out to almost Scenic Dr.

Only 2 ways across the river, and one of them only goes into the state park.  Took me years how to figure out how to get to some of those areas over there.

Anyone remember they used to have go karts out by the airport but they sucked because they all went the same exact speed and the track was a joke.

I'd also have to add the Linear Trail, that thing is terrible.

yeah the go karts were fun but it just needed a few improvements also the indoor arcade area was also turrible. oh also the laser tag thing in the mall that was kinda fun while it lasted.

linear trail is just too jumbled around town imo and a lot of it is pretty boring.

kinda hard to find things wrong w/ manhattan imo.

EDIT: I know getting rid of the dollar theater in the westloop area and replacing it w/ that cosmetology school.

Yes. The roundabout is ridiculously tight. Did they not have any more room to build one??
Overall though, I am in favor of most roundabouts. The ones in JC and on Fort Riley work quite well.

-How secluded Manhattan Country Club is is pretty WTF. I've lived here for the past four years and still haven't seen any sign of it, even though I know where it's at.

-The stretch of highway 24 from Tuttle Creek to McCall has some pretty gross establishments.

-Can't quite figure out the water tower thing behind Purple Wave with "1-800-221-CATS" on it.

The little grill?  :runaway: :runaway:

I don't think that's what he means. At least I hope not. Best Jerk i've had. :lick:

Nah, not knocking Little Grill. I've never been there, but I've heard nothing but good reviews. I was going more for the whole rank hotel and K-Mart type places along that road. On an unrelated note, has anyone ever been to the Goodnow House? It's a historical monument and all, I think.

yeah. been about ten times. it's one notch above wolf butterfield imo. just imo though. don't flood me with pm's wolf butterfield fans. i know how you guys are.

Speaking of that area on Claflin, wtf Goodnow Park?  You can just have a vacant field, put a GD cloud (i think) statue in it, and call it a park.  80% of the time, the grass is up to your knees.

Also, Tuttle Creek? What's up with that?

No doubt, it is pretty hard to find.  You can drive all around that neighborhood and never find the actual entrance.  I've been there numerous times and still have trouble finding it.

Yeah, If you're on the correct street it's pretty straightforward.  (Literally)  I just always have trouble remembering which road it's on, so I just assume I can find it from any road in the neighborhood.

You can literally cross the street from downtown and find yourself in the mall parking lot.  Do you propose they simply put a mall on campus, as that is really the center of town?

That is also the location of the most frightening alley in the world.  During lunch hour and after the high school let's out pedestrians were in peril as people would race/be morons going down that roller coaster on to Delaware.  Tons of near miss t-bones for motorists minding their own biz on Delaware, caught by surprise by acne faced demons flying down from Sunset.

There is a park-like area or maybe it is really a park between where Leavenworth ends in a circle above and where Leavenworth "T" 's with Delaware Street below.  There are steps on either side of this area which would be Leavenworth street if it went down the hill.

I used to live at Triangle Fraternity (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/5/55/TriangleDeltaT.png/30px-TriangleDeltaT.png) (221 N. Delaware) which was right next to this area when I was in school.  The house, itself, is now in private ownership.

That water tower is actually a water tower.  It is quite old and obviously no longer in use.  I remember when I lived down the street about 12 years ago some of the neighbors came around with a petition to save the tower which the city wanted torn down (not really sure why as you can't really do anything else with that little parcel of land).  I couldn't sign because I wasn't a registered voter in Riley Co.

The dead fish are a result of when it floods due to increased outlet from tuttle. When the water goes down Gar get stuck on the rocks and stink to high hell.

Hell of a place to fish if you know what time to go and how to fish it. Thats where I got the fish below.
