Title: observations from the game...
Post by: ksufanatic7 on October 15, 2006, 01:57:30 PM
just got back this afternoon after staying overnight in manhattan and here are my thoughts on the game...

The GOOD:
1.Freeman is pretty good.  Despite not having an offensive line or a running game he was able to make a lot of nice throws and looked great avoiding the rush on many occasions.  I feel much better about our offense with Freeman running it than I did with Dylan.
2.The defense continues to play well enough to keep us in games.  They held Nebraska under their season average and made enough stops to win the game had we had a decent offensive attack.
The BAD:
1.Coaching...we got flat out out coached Saturday.  The fake field goal, the 4th down bootleg run by Zac Taylor, and not running a qb sneak from inside the one yard line and instead going 3 yards back to hand off the ball were all key areas where we got outcoached.  Also not calling a timeout when we stopped Nebraska at the end of the first half.
2.Oline/Running game....Obvious one here as the running game was again nonexistent and Freeman was continuously scrambling for his life.
3. Inablility to finish drives...this has plagued our team all season especially in the red zone
4.Letting the huskers end the 10 year winning in manhattan streak.
The UGLY:
1.All the Nebraska fans chanting go big red throughout Aggieville Saturday night after the game

excellent take...someone needs to ask coach on his call in show if the quarterback sneak is in the playbook.  What about any shotgun snaps?  And does he have a counter for the weak offensive line, ie toss sweep to the running back with the tight end and the wide receiver pushing their guys back into the flow to create an opening.

And the ugly?  payback is hell and we have to endure it.  But nothing can compare to 2003 in Lincoln.  Not only did the huskers scatter from the stadium early, downtown Lincoln turned purple because the husker "faithful" beat feet out of Lincoln.  Let them have their fun.  Our turn will come soon.

I would call in if we were allowed to.

I asked the same question about using the shotgun.  I was told that our center doesn't have it in his arsenal to snap in the shotgun.  F*CKING WOW! :forked:

As an NU fan, I thought your defense had some speed, and Freeman seemed composed for how often he was pressured/hit. I thought your offense was pretty pitiful, but that's probably a function of our defense playing well. Not too impressed with Prince, he seems like kind of a clown.
