Title: 2008 cat football
Post by: fatty fat fat on August 04, 2009, 08:26:13 PM
this thread is dedicated to relieving the 2008 season.

1)interesting factoid. w/1:30 left in the game, we trailed mizzou 41-10, and they had the ball at our 10 yard line. pinkel ran the ball on 4th down to keep it at 41-10. Prince answered with a pair of stellar, strange td's (including a successfull onside kick) to make it a respectable 41-24.

"Keep it respectable" was my motto last year.  Was always really worried about being embarrassed nationally on the "bottom line".

I think you could qualify our loss to Louisville as being embarrassed nationally.

11 point loss at UL?  That wasn't even close to the most embarrassing loss last year, IMO.

52-21 was awful.  Especially because I bet my ku buddy 10 bucks.  31-0 at half was shameful.

What's more shameful?  That I was hoping ku would beat the snot out of us.  First time I wished that in years.  Why?  Because I saw nothing but bad in the future with Prince, and I knew the quickest way to get his arse out the door was for ku to embarrass us.

So while I did not actively root for the Squawks, I had no stake in the game.  If we won, I could rub it into ku fans.  If we lost, I knew Prince was dead meat.

Win-win.

52-21 was the worst.  Stayed till the bitter end just to foster hatred.

A quick glance . . . no OU scoring drive over 2:12

Fun Fact #1:
It was 14-17 with 9:43 to go in the 1st half against Tech....they then scored 21 points to finish out the half.

It was 28-28 with 8:00 to go in the 1st half against OU....they then scored 27 points to finish out the half.
....so in approximately 18 minutes, KSU gave up 48 points....the '02 defense gave up 47 points in a 6 game stretch (UT-17, Baylor-10, ku-0, ISU-7, NU-13, MU-0).

Fun Fact #2:
KSU had 50 or more points scored on it 4 times (TT-58, OU-58, ku-52, NU-56)....that had never happened in KSU's entire crappy history until then.  The most recent was '87 when in 3 consecutive weeks KSU gave up 50+ to OU, NU, OSU.

Same here. If Prince wasn't fired that same week I wouldn't have been able to handle it.

I was just saying "nationally" since that game was on ESPN if I remember correctly and I realized you posted about the bottom line.

But really, we embarrassed ourselves every week...even in our victories. A&M almost got it done and they were beyond pathetic last year.

You're right about the national scene part, if for no other reason than we are rarely on national tv lately.  I imagine, if were were televised more frequently, we would have more opportunities to embarrass ourselves.

Yeah, the fact that Prince has torn down EVERY positive streak that OBz built is beyond horrible. That UL loss was horrible, the score doesn't do chit for perspective... we were completely dominated.

Snyds did his fair share of tearing down streaks before he left.  Prince just saw those busted streaks and raised a few of his own.

You bet on K-State in that game? Do you hate money?

As sure as heck wouldn't have bet on KSU in that game but you have to remember ku had gotten bitch slapped by Texas Tech at home the week before we played them. Neither team was exactly riding high at that point but it seemed that game kind of turned things around for ku if you call going 7-5 turnings things around.

You didn't have to read that much into the situation if you realized simply how awful we were. It wouldn't have mattered what ku did the week before.

I bet on the game while wearing my purple colored glasses and drinking my purple Kool-Aid.   Biggest waste of 10 bucks ever.
