Title: Manhattan's Eliteness
Post by: bigDcat on July 21, 2009, 10:11:28 AM
on top of  :AA: and the upcoming ability to nuclear-ly take out our rival along with their entire state, i thought i would make a list of some changes you may not be aware of this summer in mhk (feel free to add on to it):
1. parking garage-- not finished (of course) but atleast it looks like it goes better with the campus than the union did
2. 2 SONICS
3. 2 walgreens
4. new roof on the president's house
5. claflin has been repaved-- it's gorgeous!
6. no tanks-- now i'm really going to need a fake
7. Bed Bath and Behond --great for your back to school supplies
8. Petco-- just a necessity
9. asians-- everywhere

Saw that coming about a mile away. The whole idea was like a group project in your Marketing class that would have earned a C -  Except someone actually went through with it.

9. asians-- everywhere

I truly did not know how many asians go to K-State until I took my campus visit last spring. They were EVERYWHERE.

Do they try to stay away from sporting events? Because I never see them there....

The thing I always loved about "Tanks" Tavern was the horrible grammatical incorrectness of the name.  Sad to see it go.

hyvee scuttlebutt: Chinese kitchen: confirmed

opening = aug 11 6am.

chinese kitchen- better than dillons. not as good as chef.

hyvee breakfast- really pretty good. very cheap. hyvee smothered hashbrowns = probable best breakfast food ever.

hyvee pizzas- pretty decent. only really worth getting when they run a bogo on them or something.

hyvee meat place- fan freaking tastic. wanna buy just one bratwurst? no problem. they'll even wrap it in butchers paper for you. chicken griller things. loaded taters. fresh jalapenos sliced in half w/ cheese in them. really, really, really good here. can not state how much better this will be.

great news. you can't expect it to be better than chef, just can't wait to see what will happen w/dill's chinese disaster kitchen.

wal-mart vs hy-vee thoughts?

Interesting FFF Note: I'am more familiar w/SchnKSU (St. Louis based grocery store) than hy-vee. Pretty humiliating but i'm secure enough to admit it here.

Color of shirts? Blue
olive bar? didn't see.
taco bar? didn't see.
health food section with whey protein? No idea. You don't actually buy that stuff?
red box? Nope. One a mere 200 yards away @ wallgreen

Chinese, itallian, "delicasean", deli, salad, seafood, breadery....it was ridiculous. I felt like I was at some elite SFO grocery store. Except it's 24 hours!

breakfast?  In shawnee the breakfast is outstanding, elite of elite.

What's going in where the ALCO used to be on the west side of town? They're doing some remodeling and exterior work, but I haven't heard what's going in there.

Yeah, Ray's is moving over to the old Alco building. Putting in a bakery and deli. Not sure what will be in the old Ray's though. The grocery selection is looking good for MHK.  :dancin:

Went to HyVee on Sunday morning, had the Breakfast Buffet  :lick:, the guy making the omelets brought them to your table after you ordered and even called you by your name, then every time he went by he proceeded to ask how the omelet was and refer to me by name (very elite memory and he was very funny). Like other posters have said there is an olive bar and self check outs. The meat section was as other posters had said amazing and seemed to go on for miles. I also nearly got frostbite after venturing too far into the freezer section. The layout of the store was kind of odd though, I didn't really like having the bakery section next to the meat department (couldn't fully appreciate the fresh baked goods smell without smelling salmon and other fish at the same time  :yuck:) I mean don't get me wrong I like the smell of fresh beef and fish, but not when I'm trying to smell the Cinnamon Rolls and cuppin' cakes.

Here's something that is different than I've seen anyone say, all the employees were wearing Purple shirts and not the blue that had been reported. Thought that was kind of interesting and very EMAW. Finally as another person has stated Rays is moving next door into a much larger space, which means even more elite shopping for MHK.

Ayo

Manhattan is going to be very comparable to St. George Utah.  I did some slight research on it, and I have personally never been there but it appears to show very high rapid growth in population.  Over 700-1,000 people are moving to St. George every month!  I feel Manhattan will have the same numbers soon if the Bio Lab comes into place.

bad news guys. woke up this morning and really wanted breakfast but didn't have anybody to go get breakfast with and didn't want to go to the chef or similar elite type place alone. i went to hyvee and got a #11 (smothered browns) to go. they were bad. not even good. i'm sending a letter to hyvee mhk and asking them to send their bfast chef to the 6th st lawrence hyvee location to take notes. lawrence has us beat here. it did not feel good to break this bad news to everyone. sorry again.  :frown:

Wouldn't be surprised here. Quedubya was all set to go into the location Planet Sub currently occupies but they backed out because of customer parking concerns.

Company as a whole has been groveling ever since. Worst company mistake ever, etc, etc. CEO was ousted - no merit pay given to employees every since, etc, etc. .

Hmm. I don't want to entice you into slander but I would be curious why you think that. Not like I know him well or anything. But even if he is a clown, TLG wouldn't exist if not for him, so that has to be worth some serious points.

heard too one too many stories first hand stories of him playing the "don't you know who i am" card around town and other clowny type things that only clowns do.

also, why did they cover the patio? is that gonna be a permanent type thing? looks like it might be. they need an outdoor area for when it's summer.

meh. I like the vibe indoors. Besides, I don't go there anytime except during hot summer days. Just sit inside, cool off and drink that rum punch crap they serve. Maybe some jerk chicken and fries once the buzz hits ya. :lick:

1) they already had tons of indoor eating area. covering the patio was stupid.

2) i would never order fries w/ my j chix. rice and peas only. fries w/ j chix is ridiculous. would be like putting ketchup on pizza.

3) next time you see kenrick, tell him that when bars in aggieville are charging a cover that yes that includes him too and that no, he doesn't need to interrupt the band playing and demand to sing a couple of songs w/ them.
