Post by: Pett on July 14, 2009, 10:12:51 PM
H.P., more like FP. Agreed?

Surely we don't have any "Potter" fans on here....

Seems like writing these books was a pretty good idea for that british lady.

I have a hard time getting myself to read things that are written for kids though. I'm not a literature snob or anything I just don't think I would feel good about myself.  You probably already assumed this though, what with my high-brow message board style.

you know who loves mac n' cheese. my bro in law. he would keep boxes of it in the trunk of his car in highschool. weird. below is a normal conversation if he comes up and stays w/ us for a night or weekend or something...

him- "what are we having for dinner?"

me- "steak, potatoes, grilled aspargus, grilled corn on cob, salad, garlic bread, pasta salad and two kinds of pie for desert."

him- "do you guys have any mac n' cheese"

me-  "lemme check.....nope. nope, don't see any"

him- "okay. i'll stop at dillons on the way. you guys need anything else"

me- " "

oh yeah, totally.

it's not like we would have him over and make stuff he didn't like. he'd love what we were making, but he'd also want mac n' cheese w/ it.

QFT. It's weird, I have never gotten into Harry Potter or The Lord of the Rings. And I definitely feel in the minority when I say that...

I'm not questioning it's oddity. I know it's strange. I feel guilty asking for ketchup when I'm at someone's house and they serve mnc.

I also have this strange fascination with putting stuff in my mashed potatoes. Cock tail (not meattail) sauce, holandaise sauce, ranch, etc. I love it.

So let me get this straight.  You throw ranch dressing and ketchup on perfectly good non-disgusting food?

do they serve it in one of these and then pull the cover off and go "voila. dinner served."

I like the HP books/movies. I had to wait for my parents to finish the last two before I got to read  :-[

They know I have more free time and am a faster reader, but does that sway them? NO! But those books aren't cheap, and with my parents already owning 2 copies I thought it disgusting to buy one of my own.

Nah, it's more of a hypothetical. I know it's happened at Mcallisters though.

Your parents own two copies of each book?

Only the last one for w/e reason. I guess my mom didn't want to wait to read the last one so they each got one. Looks odd in a bookcase.

If only there was a place you can "rent" books.

Holy crap, that'd be amazing!

Seriously though I don't think the library would have spare copies of a new HP book available at the time.

Boxed mac n' cheese is crap.  Make it yourself with tons of velveta and butter.

Velveta boxed shells mac is fantastic, you just have to let it boil like 6 minutes longer than the box says
