I'm moving to a new house this month and am wondering what people suggest for cable and internet. Here's what I need:
Very high speed internet. I work online for the most part, so it needs to be fast and reliable.
Good HD service. We will have at least 2 TV's that will need HD boxes.
DVR. I could get HD Tivo boxes if the company doesn't have a good deal on them, but it looks like most cable companies have a pretty good deal on DVR's nowadays.
The house is in the Stonehurst neighborhood right by the stadium in case that matters. I've always gone with Cox, but we are going to need a ton of stuff and the bill will be sky high, so I'm checking out other options to see if I can get better service and/or cut down on the bill a little bit. I'm thinking about maybe looking at AT&T, or maybe DirectTV? What do you guys think?

i know a very elite ksufans message boarder who also lives in stonehurst. congrats here, very elite neighborhood. enjoy basking in the glory that is stonehurst. no cable/internet advice though. if you get some..let me know and i'll pass it on to my friend.

Thanks, I do love the neighborhood and the proximity to the stadium was really one of the determining factors in the choice, so I'm not surprised other 'lite's are in there. If you don't think he'd mind, PM me his username and I'll get a hold of him.
AT&T looks kind of promising, but the internet speed is what really scares me. If I remember right, the proximity to the original DSL hub is a big factor in the speed, but I'm not sure where that is.

If you want speed, Cox blows AT&T out of the f*cking water. Its not even a contest.

I think I'll definitely be going with Cox for internet. For the 12mb/s package it's $45 a month which really isn't bad.
Does anybody have the AT&T Uverse cable package? If so, what do you think of it?
It's still fairly expensive, but since I will need a ton of boxes it would end up being cheaper and it seems like a cool system if it actually functions well. You have one central HD/DVR box, and then all of the other TV's get their own box which has HD, and DVR capabilities, but the DVR works off of the main box. The main HD/DVR box is free, and each new box is $7 a month. Pretty good compared to cox, and I will need at least 4-5 boxes.
I've read a lot of good and bad experiences with it online, but there's no contract, so the worst that would happen is that I have it for a month before switching to Cox I guess.
