Title: beer battle...
Post by: krazykat on June 25, 2009, 11:17:27 PM
alrighty. i've been in many intellectual debates about which cheap brew is better...

natty or stones (or any other cheap brew). which do you prefer??? i grew up drinking natty all thru HS and made the switch in college and never looked back. still havent. i love me some keylight, zero after taste and goes down like water.  :lick:

I finally tried some Milwaukee's Best Light the other night, having heard how horrible it was. It wasn't half bad ice cold. For the price it might be my new cheap beer.

Natty all the way.  I made it thru college with the help of Natty.  By spending less money on beer that made it possible to pay for other annoying expenses like rent and groceries.

One year for Halloween I was "Natty Man".  I stuck an empty Natty 12 pack box on my head like it was a helmet or something, and tied a big towel around my neck for the cape.  It was awesome.

But the past year or so I have also turned into a beer snob, thanks to Tallgrass Ale   :lick:

They have tallgrass at the Hyvee here in Omaha.  Was kind of suprised about that.  kind of gross.  Actually, the hyvee here in town has a pretty amazing selection of micros.  The guy that works back there knows a lot too.  He, like, tells me different ingredients of each beer I'm looking at and says crap like, "It has a slight earthiness but also a crisp citrus that hits the back of your palate."  I'm usually all, "Whatevs, give me a six of that and a case of bud light".

I know the guy who started Tallgrass.  Went in there when it was getting off the ground and watched him bottling beer Laverne & Shirley style.  Seems to be blowing up though.  I'm still a Keystone guy.  In fact, I think I left one in Daris' fridge at the first Manhattan 'pak'r.

i would say that they may not produce crapty beers...they just don't make pilsner beers that you like. to each his own. i don't mind keystone, natty, mil best,busch...they're all fine, but i prefer a million other beers all things considered. take price/advertising out of the equation and american pilsner beers wouldn't be everyone's favs.
