WARNING: long detailed post with lots of x's and o's (http://godsawesomegiftksu.blogspot.com/2009/06/why-carson-coffman-should-be-guy-with.html)
Quick Synopsis:
1) Carson Coffman has a striking similarity (in physical appearance, mental profile and intangibles) to Quarter-back Matt Saracen featured on the Documentary "Friday Night Lights" on the KSNT affiliate of the National Broadcasting Corporation's Friday night programming.
2) Matt Saracen in said documentary unexpectedly leads his team to two consecutive State Championship games (winning the first and losing the second) while fending off challenges as QB1 from "dual-threat" thugs and "pretty-boy" hype machines
3) Due to these similarities, I believe that Carson Coffman is my first choice Quarter-back, "Field General" and QB1 for Kansas State University's Intercollegiate Athletic Football Club.

Have not watched that show but there was a good piece on NPR a while back about how it could stay on TV for longer than it should because they place numerous adds in the show. Like, everyone constantly pounding gatorade and expounding on gatorade's greatness.

I would imagine the fact that it is a single camera documentary would hold down some of those costs associated with normal "Hollywood" shows.

Don't think so. Didn't mention that on NPR anyway. :buh-bye:

Well that settles that then.

Can I still let Booby spin? Because I really, really don't want to lose.

can you compare carson to previous big 12 qbs? thx. j/w.
i really don't think carson is very good.
-
If I'm a K-State fan, I'm hoping for Daniel Thomas to start at QB.

My guess he won't because of the Harper transfer. :-[
-
Thomas will be QB.
...In the wildcat formation.
-
hey the coach from FNL is also the guy from that show where he sees tomorrows headlines today and then tries to stop them from happening. that was a pretty good show.

As compared to other white quarterback greatness at Kansas State:
Carson < Matt Miller
Carson < Brian Kavanagh
Carson < M. Dunn
Carson > Dylan Meier :BigToke: :BigToke:
We will play 2 QBs this season.

Where does he rank with Jason Smargesso(sp?) I would put = but dunno.
Carson Coffman < Chad May

Honestly: I'd put his Sr. yr high end potential @ Robert Hodge, low could easily be another Allen Evridge.

hopefully carson's "hodge vs ksu" game will be against ou. and we beat them.

do you rank AE above or below DM?

below. At least Dylan had shoulder surgery to blame. AE sucked naturally.
2004 Dylan = 57% 1436 9/5 TD/INT + 306 & 6
2005 AE = 47% 1365 6/7 + 414 & 4
2006 Dylan = 51% 775 3/4

I was looking at some Wisky stats . . . if memory serves, AE fumbled the ball 7 times in 5 games, and Wisky lost 5 of them.

The kid was a pure winner at KSU though.

The tard revolt over him leaving was even worse than Marc Dunn/Ell. AE was just that awful.

AE was the type of player who "really wanted to be here."

at the time of him leaving, I ranked him above DM. DM sucked even with years of experience, at that time AE sucked and was inexperienced. As their illustrious careers have now ended, and we look at them comparatively it's really a cripple fight.

Coffman can throw the ball and run with it.
nice player.
WTF are you dumbasses talking about? :chainsaw:

I've tried to remove the memory of Jason Smargianso (sp?), now with your post I'll need more time with the shrink... :D
I would hope Carson is better, really all he would have to do to be better is not turn it over all the damn time. I don't recall his stats, but I recall him throwing picks all the time.

Plus he had a hot wife/g-friend
