Post by: waks on October 10, 2006, 11:26:36 PM
How many former NU players are currently on NFL rosters?? Just curious, I'm not trying to question your superior program or anything to that effect. I just want to know..

Week 4 of the 2006 National Football League season featured several standout performances by former Huskers, including former Blackshirts Demorrio Williams and Sam Koch, who each pushed their squads to big wins.

* Demorrio Williams (Atlanta)—Williams led the Falcons with 10 tackles, including seven solo stops, during the Falcons’ 32-10 win over Arizona at the Georgia Dome. The former Husker linebacker leads Atlanta in total tackles this season with 30.

* Sam Koch (Baltimore)—Koch helped the Ravens run their undefeated mark to 4-0 during Baltimore’s 16-13 win over previously undefeated San Diego. The Seward, Neb., native averaged 48.0 yards on seven punts, including one 56 yarder and two others that landed inside the Charger 20-yard line. Koch’s 1,156 punt yards lead the NFL through four weeks.

* Cory Ross (Baltimore)—Ross was inactive during the Ravens’ 16-13 win over San Diego.

* Chris Kelsay (Buffalo)—Kelsay made four tackle assists and added a pass breakup during the Bills’ 17-12 home win over Minnesota. The Auburn, Neb., ranks ninth among Buffalo defenders in tackles, but his three sacks on the season tie for the team lead.

* Mike Minter (Carolina)—Minter recorded two solo tackles to help the Panthers win, 21-18, over the Saints.

* Mike Rucker (Carolina)—Rucker assisted on one tackle during the Panthers’ 21-18 victory over the Saints.

* Mike Brown (Chicago)—Brown made five tackles, four solo, during a dominating 37-6 win by the Bears over Seattle on Sunday night. The former Husker All-American is one of the key leaders for a Chicago defense that has allowed only one touchdown through the season’s first four weeks.

* Kyle Larson (Cincinnati)—Larson punted six times for a 44.5 yard average during a 38-13 Bengals loss to New England. Four of Larson’s six kicks landed inside the Patriot 20-yard line, while he recorded a long of 54 yards. The Funk, Neb., native currently ranks fifth among NFL punters in yards per kick average.

* Ralph Brown (Cleveland)—Brown did not record a tackle during the Browns’ 24-21 comeback win at Oakland. Brown has made six total stops through four games.

* Daniel Bullocks (Detroit)—Bullocks made a career-high eight tackles (six solo) and added his second career pass breakup during the Lions’ 41-34 loss to St. Louis. With 20 tackles through the first four weeks, Bullocks ranks second on the Detroit defense in his rookie season.

* Dominic Raiola (Detroit)—Raiola made his 68th consecutive start at center for the Lions during a 41-34 loss to St. Louis. The 2000 Rimington Award Winner anchored a Detroit offensive line that paved the way for running back Kevin Jones to rush for 93 yards and two touchdowns.

* Cory Schlesinger (Detroit)—Schlesinger played in his 171st career game at fullback for the Lions during a 41-34 loss to St. Louis. He helped block for running back Kevin Jones’ 93-yard, two-touchdown rushing performance.

* Ahman Green (Green Bay)—Green missed his first start of the season and did not play during the Packers’ 31-9 loss to Philadelphia on Monday Night Football due to a hamstring injury.

* Kris Brown (Houston)—Brown connected on a 32-yard field goal in the first quarter that proved to be the difference during the Texans’ 17-14 victory over Miami. He also added a pair of PATs to help Houston avoid an 0-4 start. Brown is perfect on both field goals (3-for-3) and PATs (7-for-7) so far this season.

* Zach Wiegert (Houston)—Wiegert made his fourth start of the season at right tackle, as the Texans earned their first win of the season during a 17-14 win over Miami.

* Will Shields (Kansas City)—The Ironman Shields made his franchise-record 211th consecutive start at right guard for the Chiefs in their 41-0 drubbing of San Francisco. Shields helped block for a 101-yard rushing performance by running back Larry Johnson and a 208-yard passing performance by backup quarterback Damon Huard.

* Russ Hochstein (New England)—Hochstein played in his fourth consecutive game for the Patriots this season during a 38-13 victory over Cincinnati. He helped New England produce 424 yard total offense against the Bengals.

* Le Kevin Smith (New England)—Smith did not play during the Patriots 38-13 victory over Cincinnati.

* Josh Bullocks (New Orleans)—Bullocks made four tackles (three solo) and added a pass breakup during the Saints’ 21-18 loss at Carolina.

* DeJuan Groce (New Orleans)—Groce did not play during the Saints’ 21-18 loss at Carolina. He has been unable to play this season while rehabbing an injured hamstring.

* Scott Shanle (New Orleans)—Shanle registered five tackles (four solo) and a sack of Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme during the Saints’ 21-18 loss at Carolina. Shanle continues to be a good pickup for the Saints, who acquired the linebacker during fall camp, as he ranks third on the squad in both tackles (22) and sacks (two) through four games.

* Adam Treu (Oakland)—Treu played in his 148th career game with Oakland during the Raiders’ 24-21 loss to Cleveland, serving as the squad’s long snapper.

* Fabian Washington (Oakland)—Washington made four solo tackles and added a pair of pass breakups during the Raiders’ 24-21 loss to Cleveland.

* Correll Buckhalter (Philadelphia)—Buckhalter led the Eagles with 49 yards rushing on 11 carriers during a 31-9 Monday Night Football win against Green Bay, while adding two receptions for 39 yards. The game marked his most carriers in a game since the 2003 season. Buckhalter sat out the last two years due to injury.

* Ryon Bingham (San Diego)—Bingham collected his second career tackle during the Chargers’ 16-13 loss to Baltimore. His only previous career stop came last season against Denver.

* Carlos Polk (San Diego)—Polk played for the third time this season during the Chargers’ 16-13 road loss to Baltimore. Polk has made seven tackles this season in his role as a reserve linebacker.

* Josh Brown (Seattle)—Brown accounted for Seattle’s only points with a pair of short field goals during the Seahawks’ 37-6 loss to Chicago on Sunday night. Brown is 5-for-8 on field goal attempts this season after making kicks of 23 and 24 yards.

* Grant Wistrom (Seattle)—Wistrom made two solo tackles for the Seahawks during a 37-6 loss to Chicago on Saturday night.

* Barrett Ruud (Tampa Bay)—Ruud and Buccanners had their bye in Week 4.

* Kyle Vanden Bosch (Tennessee)—Vanden Bosch made four tackles in his fourth start of the season during Tennessee’s 42-14 loss to Dallas. Vanden Bosch ranks seventh on the Titans defense in tackles (19) this season, while his two sacks tie for the team lead.

30, if I counted right.

Well to be fair.  He did run out of fingers and toes when counting so it's really not his fault.

He said 32.  Did he just pull that number out of thin air?  Is he included NFL Europe?
