I watched that last week on Nat Geo. They're in New Mexico btw, but anyways that dude is f*cked up! Those kids that are in there are completely brainwashed. I can't believe people would actually follow that dude and believe him. Do they think the "Messiah" would rape kids and have sex with other married women? He also lied about his body changing on October 31st. :lol: Everything thing he says is a bunch of bullcrap and the ones whole follow him are completely brainwashed and fracking retards. Cult's should be illegal, they are only made so the leader can have sex with whoever he wants without protest, even children and teens.

guess so. love it for smoking but i tried grilling some lamb chops after my pork butt got done and wow, the flame ball came out bigtime when i lifted the lid. i also think i seared the top/bottom gaskets together. coulda been worse i guess. great smoker though.

I burnt the gaskets off after the first 5 times or so of using. Best flame ball I had was when I was smoking a turkey for thanks giving and I opened the egg up and took the turkey out on one of those skewers. Once I picked it up the damn thing burst into flames and I basically had a flaming bird on a stick. It still turned out great tho

You really think the Egg is better than the Weber Smokey Mountain (looks like R2D2)? I am skeptical. I know dudes that won ribs at Lenexa and Sausage at the Royal cooking on a Smokey Mountain.

WSM is a great smoker as well. I was actually thinking about buying one of those too since it's not a pain in the ass to move around. I took my egg back to KC because I didn't want me or any of my drunk room mates to break it.
I really want a Traeger too :love: Tubby's has one btw

Is it difficult to use vs the WSM? Is it a true smoker, or more of a pressure cooking hybrid or something? I haven't done my homework on the Egg and suspect that I am under appreciating it's value...what made you get yours?

qft. I never read a bad review about it before I bought it. It really is a great cooker. I completely pwn my uncle who has been BBQing for years. Forget what he uses.

Well i've never used a WSM, but have heard good things. The egg prides itself on being easy to control the temperature through air flow and the insulation, this does take practice though.
If you're really interested about smokers/smoking you should visit www.bbqbretheren.com . These people know their 'Q. Many of them are restaurant owners and competition cookers. There's even some EMAW on the sight other than myself (KSUbbq)

OT from the smoker discussion... That thing (Nat Geo show) has been on for at least a year. And yes, they're in the great lovely beautiful awesome vast sexy state of New Mexico. They were in AZ until they got too crazy for the Repubs there and got kicked out.
Yeah, the dude is crazy. Great show to watch. The most interesting thing is watching the interviews of the ppl that actually buy into his insanity. Reminds me of KSU fans right now imo

not difficult to use either the WSM or the Egg, but the Egg is easier of the two. the WSM is made of the same steel most webers kettles are and is a smoker just like the Egg. the big difference is that the Egg is made of ~1 inch thick ceramic and is very efficient since such little heat escapes except from the smoke vents. you can load it with lump charcoal and smoke for 12+ hrs without any need to load more fuel in, very efficient. i usually have half of the lump left over from my previous smoke. as Pike said, heat control, because of the efficiency of the design, is very simple on the egg. you get it to your desired temp (for me b/w 225-250) and leave it. most smokers require some attention, whether for reloading of fuel or temp adjustment.
i was planning on a WSM until a friend offered me his brand new large size egg for great price. his wife bought him one but he preferred a different brand of smoker so he sold me the egg.
i'll fire it up any time you want to come down, you can check it out.

did you regasket your egg yourself? i need to and it looks like a pain in the ass.

and i'd show you guys the 3rd degree burns on the inside of my forearm (basically burned the top two layers of skin off) but my arm has been bandaged since the "event" on saturday night.

I haven't even bothered regasketing it yet. As i said my egg is at my parents house and i use it only when I got home. I really should put a new gasket on as it really is the "Cadillac" of vertical backyard smokers.
