My focus has been trying to do the best job we can do with this recruiting class because I think we have an opportunity to do something special. That’s really been my primary focus.

We haven’t been a very good defensive rebounding team. We have a couple guys – I’m going to try here before we get really started to let them get a rebound just so they find out what it’s like. I think if they get one they might kind of like it.

Geeezzzz.  I don’t see it.  I had heard locally (Cincinnati area) that the accelerated courses Bill was taking at NCH would not be finished until late October/early November.  And then there is the NCAA Clearinghouse stuff.  That alone may zap Walker’s desire to play even in December when the current K-State quarter finishes.  At this point in time I think everybody is just speculating and no one has any actual facts.  I am hoping for the best here, but I think some of you are putting the cart before the beast...

Ya I'm pretty sure that's bad GRCOAT recon intel.
The NCAA Clearinghouse is going to be extra sensitive to the Walker case- given the ancillary conditions surrounding it:  Huggins, Walker & his High School issues, Walker's accelerated graduation, etc.

Remember how long it took them to approve Brandon Rush at ku?  That was all because he skipped around to so many highschools.

He still didn't miss a class.  Walker has only been to two high schools, IIRC.

I think there are rules around when he enrolls (ie, it's October now) and when he needs to be on campus to become eligible for this semester, I thought that the time had already passed.

In terms of he being the surprise, I hope I'm wrong, but if I was the K-State Athletic Dept I would want the entire world to know about it and be screaming at the top of my lungs that Walker was at KSU.  Not keeping it under wraps until the day of the event.  They let the news out now and media from all over is going to cover it.

My guess is that the "surprise" is that Willy got a new mini-car to drive around the court on.   :jerkoff:

If he enrolls Friday, he would still be a recruit up until that point and KSU definitely can't comment on him until after that point.

Also, how do we know Walker hasn't already been through the Clearinghouse?

You're right I would, but I can't convince the team of 70 year olds that run our Marketing/Merchandising Department to tell me where they sell the damn things.

Who is 'Willy'?

Meh, I meant Willie.

(Willie is the mascot's name.)

You mean the person in the Wildcat suit?  That thing should be burned.  The mascot looks like it died from a disease or something.  The only mascot I have seen that is a bad is the one for Cincinnati Bengals, and it sucks. They should get the person that did the San Diego Chicken to make a mascot suit because it looks pretty good -- you know, it has some character.  Too bad it is poultry, though.  I didn’t realize the K-State mascot had a name, however.  I thought it was just called ‘Powercat’...

It's pretty damn bad too.  But please don't assume that I am a Bearcat fan!

Places like Disneyworld and whatnot can put together these great looking costumes and most of them look animated and have character.  Very few colleges, however, have good looking mascot costumes.  Louisville’s looks good but all they did is copy the San Diego Chicken and make it red.  Willie looks like someone made it at home and did a poor job on it to boot.  I am not attacking KSU’s program or insignias, after all I really like the Powercat emblem.  I even have one stuck on the back of my car.  But that stuffed Wildcat looks sick...

Willie the Wildcat is a versatile mascot. He can be anything he wants, as long as he dons the Willie head.

Until you come to a game and watch the Willie routines, don't talk crap on Willie.

This is Willie, isn’t it?  His head is about ten feet in diameter and his cheeks look like they have had cosmetic surgery.

Now this one looks a whole lot better, doesn’t it?  It looks mean and devious!  Like it is going to eat you.  Case closed.  (http://www.thekansascitystore.com/images/thumbnails/297-KSUFIGUR.JPG)

And yes, I plan to make a trip or two to see K-State play this winter.  I just hope I can get tickets because they seem to be getting scarce.

Yeah, the second version is much better.  I'd have to say that it's look is much more Warner Brothers than Disney, though.

So, anyway, I wonder to what extent Huggins explored Walker's possible eligibility for this year when he took his trip to the NCAA HQ months ago.  Any chance they initiated the process clearing Walker to play at that time?

We have another mascot. His name is Touchdown XI and he resides at Sunset Zoo. He is a bobcat (the eleventh one KSU has had) and they used to bring him to games at Ahearn but he ate a ku fan one time (we kept him in a cage but he just got out) and they wouldn't let us bring him to to the games anymore. Apparently it is dangerous to have a live bobcat around that many people, whatever :jerkoff: Texas and Colorado get to have there piece of crap live animals. Why can't we? A&M has one too. Does Baylor have a live bear? Because that would be &@#%ing sweet.

It looks like during Big 12 play there will be 12:30, 3:00, and 5:00 games on saturdays.  I don't remember 5:00 games in the past, must be a new thing with the TV deal or something.

Oops, I missed one.  7:00 saturday game at aTm.  I don't remember this many sat time slots in the past.

Chicago State was a late addition, so I'm sure we just had to add it whenever it fit both teams' schedules.
