and the answer of why you've never been there before is probably because you live in olathe.
-
Disappointed because I thought this thread would be about sandwiches.

this was going to be my answer. :yuck:

still though, the calzone was the best thing I've had in a long time from any restaurant let alone a hole in the wall bar.

The same downtowners flipping crap because someone doesn't live "In the city" are the same people who would be pissed off mother&@#%ers if all the joco &@#%ers moved next to them. Makes no sense to me.... That's like me bitching at a bunch of hippies, homeless people, and weirdos for not living near Falcon Ridge. :peek:

really, i'm glad the people living in joco live there.
he asked why he hasn't been down to grinders before. the most honest answer is because most people living in joco don't know where the crossroads district is, nor are they likely to drive 30 minutes to a neighborhood that they aren't familiar with, in an area that's not quite as safe as they're used to, to check out the food at a hole in the wall named grinders. just like i couldn't tell you how badass the new mega-multi-level applebee'/chili's/target is just south of 237th Street.

saw the cake show, thought it was bad ass.
I do like the digs...reminds me of watching a concert while going to ren-fest though.
I don't think this is really a bad thing since I'm a huge nerd. 8-)

-
Friend from out of town at a confrence. Had some brews and dinner there Wed. He was staying at a hotel on Main st. just south of the memorial. He had seen it on Diners, drive ins, and dives.

Is that like an italian style? Never really lived in a real big city, but the food network/travel channel rave about those things.

I only make fun of young single people that live in suburbs. <-those guys are losers

Not exactly in the suburbs, but you don't really see a ton of food carts around Wichita.

QFT. You don't hear any single 25 year-olds asking about the school system when he's looking at an apartment/loft/condo/etc.

why. what is it about "suburbs" that makes single people "losers" for living there yet not for married people.
thanks. feel free to pm or "email" me if the reason is obvious and i will look like clown when revealed

that, and because I am very elite and can say things like that.

If I were single I would live downtown.

what JT said above is the biggest reason. but that reason isn't obvious until you get to that point in your life of thinking about that crap. there are other reasons, smaller and more ancillary. i lived out south JOCO for a couple years after graduating.
it really sucked for me, living in the middle of millions of taupe colored houses, with taupe colored honda mini-vans parked in the driveways of the millions of cul-de-sac and the millions of yellow labs playing with the two kids from each of the houses.
there is absolutely no culture or flavor to any of it, and i think that's the way they prefer it. seriously, you could wander through south leawood, overland park, and olathe, and not know you'd moved an inch. it's. all. the. same.
and you can't get away from it anywhere you go.

Suburbs are quiet and safe - aka nothing to do unless you like malls and softball. And if you are young and single and your two favorite things are malls and softball...well...you're probably gonna be single for awhile...

knocked down multiple flying monkeys last night at Grinders West. Gwar show was getting started. Attendance did not look good. Some cow decapitators band was opening up.
-
I like burbs. very convienent, nice smelling. I like being able to go out to eat at a place like grinders every once in a while and not have to wake up next to it.
