My boss, known Twitter aficionado kurt Caywood, passes along this interesting link from the San Diego Union-Tribune.
San Diego State athletic director Jeff Schemmel gave the "no comment" line when asked if he'd interviewed for K-State's vacant AD job, as a K-State fan site has reported. Schemmel gave a more emphatic response when asked about the job in February, telling the Union-Tribune, "I love my job at San Diego State, and Kansas State has not contacted me. I'm very happy where I'm at.”
Schemmel is a K-State grad, and he worked as an administrator there from 1998-91. He also has a law degree from Washburn.
There's not much information leaking out about K-State's AD search, which should be wrapping up within the next month or so. Illinois State athletic director Sheahon Zenger has said he's not a candidate, and you've got to wonder how much interest there is in the job given some of the challenges the new AD will inherit.
In terms of experience, K-State probably couldn't do much better than Schemmel, who is in his fourth year as San Diego State's AD.

Interesting:
-K-State Alum and Former K-State Track Athlete (coached by Deloss Dodds I believe).
-Fomer K-State athletic deperatment employee.
-Lawyer
-Had his own sports oriented law firm for a few years.
-Was the Chief Operating Officer for U of Minn Athletics for 12 years.
-One of the top dogs for the Arizona State Foundation . . . but for less than 1 year.
-Was somewhat suprised by SDSU's revenue numbers given their football struggles.
-Some people calling for SDSU to drop football, saying it's a no win situation, particularly after they somewhat swung for the fences with Chuck Long and it failed miserably.
-
I have LADIQ, soooo - is being an AD basically like being a coach, you build up from school to school? The next logical step from SDSU would be to a "big" program? tia

Lots of times. The thing with this guy is who are his hires, and how did they do? :yuck:
-
His one hire was Long :yuck: . Steve Fischer was already there when he was the AD.
-
With Chuck Long, at least he tried to swing for the fences.

Supposedly the list is down to three, and the list has been given to president-to-be Kirk Shulz. I'm not privileged enough to be an insider anywhere so I dont know names.

Possibly:
