Title: KSU to elite for the Big 12?
Post by: steve dave on May 01, 2009, 10:28:10 AM
Is there anyway we could play in the SEC for football and the Big East for hoops?  I'm getting kinda tired of this lame-o conference holding us back.  We pretty much have our run of things here but I'm tired of being the big fish in the small crappy pond filled with garbage little fish that stink and aren't good at sports, you know?  Like, maybe we go all Notre Dame but actually join a conference for football?  I dunno, just seems like we could do much, MUCH, better than the Big 12.

The appropriate move in this regard would be for Kf*ckinState to join the Ivy League.  They were gunna do it in the 70's, but things didn't work out.

Yeah because we have all these road scholar and Truman Scholars that Weefs keeps talking about we should fit right in with the Ivy League.  I say make it happen.

k-state is not too elite for the B12.
think about it.  we could take the best playerz from the past 13 years worth of teams and not win the B12*

some of you guys fall for steve dave's fishing taxtix too easily.

I only need to go back three years.  Beasley, Walker, Martin, Clemente and Harris w/ Hoskins, Pullen and Samuels off the bech would have won it this year.

Those guards aren't THAT bad.  Both are 1000 point scorers at the high major level.  Both will/are play at some pro level. It's not like they belong in the mid-majors.  Definitely not he caliber of the average big 12 champ, but with an all-NBA frontcourt, they are servicable to make a run at a championship....especially in a down year.

exactly right.  even pissclams finally had to concede defeat and admit state eliteness.  the problem is how to shed the big 12.

if you think about it, a lot of schools are much less elite, but far more east coast and accish.  for example, you see a lot of recruits mention staying on the east coast when justifying choosing a villanova or a duke over state.  it will be challenge, but our new a.d. will have to try and trade in eliteness for east coastivity.  i just hope state hires someone up to the task.

Big ten gets a leg up in a lot of sports, would be helpful, could see every football game on tv.  Could see old balls V older balls every year.  Better road trips to good college towns, as opposed to ames and lubbock.  Theres some upside dude!

I like the east coast idea, that would put us at the media forefront.  I suggest some type of inland channel that runs from the Atlantic ocean across by Manhattan, then dumps back out to the south of Texas.  We just have to be careful about routing because we don't ku, MU, OU, or UT trying to ride our coat-tails like they do now.

The only other good option is to secede from the State of Kansas and become a city in the State of New York....Manhattan West.  That would open up tourism from other parts of our fair state of New York, and provide companies that want to be in the New York spotlight, but still have the benefits of being centrally-located an excellent option. Only downside is we'd probably have to get a hockey team so the ESPN crowd would want to visit more.
