FYI this is from the 1918 flu pandemic article in Wikipedia:

It probably originated in the Far East.[9] The disease was first observed at Fort Riley, Kansas, United States, on March 4, 1918,[10] and Queens, New York, on March 11, 1918.

just don't go to mexico right now. All I'm saying.

It probably isn't deadly if you have access to an emergency room and a good doctor...otherwise this thing is probably going to kill more people in impoverished areas.

This is serious.

Not to freak everyone out...but I guess I will....but you can walk around without any symptoms for two days with most flu infections and be completely contagious, which is why this is probably spreading like it is.

Hope this gets under control soon, or my summer plans to travel to Europe might be diverted.

If you get on quick onset of flu symptoms go to the doctor right away. The flu season should be ending right now so it should be unusual to get the flu. Kansas had a relatively dormant flu season this year. Last year was worse.

He didn't know.... They didn't even know that Dickinson County had anything like that.  Two of the sherriffs were out sick, so there was some speculation that they were dying and spreading it to all illegal mexicans and inmates in Abilene.

You should prally call the doctor not go to the doctor. They will tell you what to do from there. No need to go spreading the possibility in waiting rooms.

her main juices are grapefruit, mandarin orange, orange, beet, + carrot.  any mix you want.  cactus, celery and pineapple can be ground up and added to any.  i usually get mandarin, orange or a 50/50.  it's incredibly good.

you can get way more flavors at a water (ground fruit/veg, sugar + water) place.

They tried this in 1976 during the Pig Flu scare, and it turned out that the vaccine caused a nervous disorder and was much worse than the flu.

Slaughtering that many pigs will greatly reduce the amount of pig flatulence coming from that country and reduce their carbon footprint.

Unless of course they burn all the carcasses, in which case all of the carbon will immediately enter the system at the same time.

No, it's what foxnews/msnbc is telling you.  It's not accurate.  Regular flu can kill healthy adults and this has shown nothing that would make it more or less dangerous once you have contracted it.  Don't attach the word swine to it and Glen Beck is back to bitching about the negro in the white house.

It's not going to spread like everyone is freaking out about either:

This isn't the seasonal flu.  The truth is that the scientists don't really know what's going to happen, and the media is taking full advantage of that fact.  It certainly looks fairly benign now, but that could change.

Yeah, it would count.  You have to call it first though.  I mean, if someone else has already claimed to have infected them you won't get credit.  It's like claims on old timey gold mines or oklahoma land plots or whatever.

I'm more concerned about the strain going off the radar, mutating, and coming back a couple years from now much stronger.    :ohno:

Well, Stallone mutated between Rambo 1 and that last one. Wow, was he Mr. Botox, or what?

LMAO at people being freaked out about this.  If the media didn't attach the word swine to it everyone would still be concentrating on the Speidi wedding.

Best of both worlds?

Obamas take a walk, holding hands in the evening
By CHRISTINE SIMMONS ? 3 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) ? The first couple took full advantage of the cool spring night.

After a date night out on Saturday evening, President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama decided to take a stroll when their motorcade arrived back at the White House.

So they began walking on the driveway of the White House South Lawn while holding hands. First they passed the West Wing, then their children's swing set. They kept walking, swinging their hands together.

There were no Secret Service agents right behind them ? the agents stood off, in one of the rare moments that the Obamas had private space outside the White House walls.

As the Obamas walked behind shrubbery and out of sight, the unscripted moment left reporters guessing where they were going. To the vegetable garden? The basketball court? No final word, but they eventually came back the same way from where they started, rounding out their 8-minute walk.

I thought this thread was about the media paying too much attention to something that isn't worth the attention.  Pig flu, Speidi, and Obama's out walking all fall in that category.

There has been a small outbreak of “zombism” in London due to mutation of the H1N1 virus into new strain: H1Z1.

Similar to a scare originally found in Cambodia back in 2005, victims of a new strain of the swine flu virus H1N1 have been reported in London.

After death, this virus is able to restart the heart of it’s victim for up to two hours after the initial demise of the person where the individual behaves in extremely violent ways from what is believe to be a combination of brain damage and a chemical released into blood during “resurrection.”

The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised the alert to phase six, its highest level, and advised governments to activate pandemic contingency plans.

In Mexico, the epicentre of the outbreak, President Felipe Calderon urged people to stay at home over the next five days.

After seeing this show on Nat Geo about the recent outbreak, I'm going to say the time for  :ohno: isn't nearly over.  And we really dodged a bullet with SARS.. had no idea how freaked out about that one we should have been.  Best bet is to take your vitamin C and don't get old!   :cyclist:

Doesn't that seem a bit oxymoron-ish?  If you never even knew how scared you should have been, doesn't it seem like you probably didn't need to be scared at all?
