RLS is in dire need of a new phone, have had a razor with no front screen since august. RLS is with Alltel and currently likes the Samsung Delve, but yet the Blackberry Storm is also bad ass.
BUT the problem is Alltel/Verizon won't have the Storm until the merger takes full affect. I've talked to 3 different reps in the area and two of them have said in a month or two (June) and another said September. RLS does not know what to do, when the summer hits, after graduation, won't have much time for Alltel runs. Any experience with either phones good or bad let me know, TIA.

oh and the Delve would be a little cheaper through Alltel

let me save you the headache, verizon boy. the bb storm is a piece of garbage. don't know anything about the samsung, which should tell you something. samsung makes great phones but they aren't known for executing in the smartphone arena.

Listen to clams.
My recomendation would be one of the HTC products for an Alltel smartphone. I've really enjoyed mine.

I messed with the HTC and kinda liked it but liked the Delve a little more. I'm not to hot on a phone with windows which the HTC had.

WinMo is very underrated. Especially with HTC's TouchFlo.

the thing has been plagued with problems since its release, i just googled blackberry storm problems and got 1.7M results
here's one of them- http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/27/technology/personaltech/27pogue.html?em
the phone is buggy, doesn't have the processor it needs to accomplish the tasks it's asked to, and as a result it either accomplishes them realllllllllly slowly, or not at all.
the touch flo interface that _FAN mentioned is an interface on the newer HTC products (diamond & touch pro) that allows quick access to the phone's functionality, think of it as a GUI. Windows Mobile, while not perfect, has come a long way too. it's no where near the interface of an iPhone, but nothing is (yet) :ugh:

I've found WinMo to be very very good at being customizable. There are huge communities set up just to mod the OS and make tons of apps for it. You like Safari on the iphone? You better, that's your only option. On WinMo, you get IE (sucks), Opera 9.5 (amazing), Skyfire (very powerful), Iris, Firefox mobile, etc. 6.1 is very smooth and stable (as opposed to 5.0 which was kinda a hog). The one downfall to it is how it looks. It's very utilitarian. That's where HTC comes into play. They made an amazing interface for the platform. Very user and touch friendly.

QFT.
HTC's Touchflo is very well done on their newer phones. And as was said, you can customize quite a bit. Maybe not some of the crazy iphone stuff, but plenty of cool stuff.
I suppose I'm biased toward WinMo though b/c I've been using it for a long time, starting with the old black and white IPAQ I got back in the day. They've steadily improved it over time as well.

When I call my friend on his BB storm, there is always like a 5 second delay before he says hello after he answers because there's some sort of laggy thing with the phone answering. It's not really a big deal, but i guess it has lots of little things that tend to annoy him.
The HTC sounds pretty awesome...

One thing people need to keep in mind is that this is the first version of the BB Storm. Remember when the first version of the iphone came out? Problem after problem arose. There is new software (3rd software release) coming out in a few weeks that I have had a chance to play with that makes the phone incredible. For everyone saying they know someone who hates it, I know a lot more people who wouldn't give it up for anything. Blackberry just released its new "Blackberry app world" as well that has a lot of cool applications on it.
If someone tells you they hate the Storm because it's slow and buggy....ask them when the last time was they popped the battery out.....more times than not they will say never. With blackberrys, it is suggested to take it out once a week to refresh the phone and close down any opened apps that you don't know about. Keeps the phone running fast and bug free.
If you are wanting a cool non-pda phone from verizon, go with the dare or even better....the LG Versa. The phone is incredible.

Just be an elite and get an iPhone.

iPhone? Not elite.
Should be less than 1 month for the
PALM PRE
-
My friend has to pop the battery out of his storm quite often, probably more like 2-3 times a week. Sure, it may be new and buggy and needs another version or two before the kinks are fixed, but that's all the more reason not to buy the current one.

Touch button interface, multiple sounds, full number set, menu with options, digital clock, calculator, variable ring volume. And will it &@#% up? No.

I'm not lying to you, wait 1 month, switch to Sprint and get a Pre. The thing is going to be ridiculous.

:hahano: Laying off employees by the thousands. Losing customers even faster. Ranked dead last in nearly all categories for cell phone companies.
But switch on over!!!

I have had Sprint for about 6 years, and I've never had a problem with them. My service works fine, and I pay less than pretty much all my friends. I have unlimited pics, texts, and internet.
I think the reason people hate them is because their bills are confusing. (Will not disagree with this). Then people go over on their minutes, the bill is hard to understand so they get mad.

I will say that their online bill format is really simple and easy to do. Plus, SERO!

I'm going to be in the market for a new phone soon too. I'd like an iPhone, but I don't want anything to do with AT&T. bbzzzzt zzzzt bbzzzzzzzzzttt GSM sucks.

Add my vote to HTC, btw. Highly underrated. A solid OEM.

redid the paper bill format a little over a year ago to make it simple to read, now people complain there's not enough detail :shy:

People complaining about bills...what a unique issue Sprint has.

The iPhone is all about the applications. It's quickly becoming the Windows of cel phones.

Kinda figured but wasn't sure. Have wal-mart rhino-lined a couple pickups and the results were satisfactory only for a couple months, then we wore them out. So I didn't know whether it was a chemical thing or an application technique. You sound like a redneck.

Good to get the koug approval, especially with his special early Pre connections.
HTC makes good stuff and their improvements from their old 6800 to the new Touch Pro were pretty impressive.

Yeah, I just pay it online and don't even look at the bills, unless something seems wrong.
