Sounds like they'll have to downgrade to beanie weenies.
-
Not surprised . . . I saw a story on the news the other day that said almost all US collegiate foundations had seen their investment portfolio drop in value significantly . . . 20-30-40% in most cases.

Poor bastards. Definitely no more hotdogs.
-
ku just had to take away reduced sports tickets to the faculty . . . since ku athletics agreed to pay for its own utilities, the school supplemented faculty athletic tickets out of its budget, but that budget has been cut entirely and ku faculty and staff will now have to pay full price for ku sporting events. A fine way to treat the rank and file . . . you stay classy KthUg.

You live your life in a strange way. I don't think that you are doing very well.

You live your life in a strange way. I don't think that you are doing very well.
Thanks . . . and something doesn't make sense. Some guys like BigJkutard have you believe that ku athletics is just swimming in cash, but when you read the article about the ku faculty losing their cheap tickets, there's a quote from mouthpiece Maricony (sp??) talking about how ku had $53 million dollars in total revenue, but had nearly $53 million dollars in total expenses, thus there was no way ku athletics could take over supplementing the faculty/staff tickets again. Damn . . . ku's numbers are all over the map anymore, that pretty much totally contradicts what ku athletics told the DOE for FY 2008, or ku's revenues have absolutely plummeted year over year, or as I suspected Lew's doing stuff like calling the receipts from bond sales, operating revenue.
-
Sounds like ku's just maximizing profit. MR = MC = 0... you know, the basics.
-
Yeah . . . the tards paint a picture of ku athletics swimming in cash, Lew Steals $2 million a year from the students in fees (over and above student tickets), and yet ku athletics is running so tight on its budget they can't afford to supplement faculty ticket sales (a $450K expense/loss/drop in revenue . . . whatever) in order to provide faculty and staff reduced prices on tickets???
-
Sounds like ku's just maximizing profit. MR = MC = 0... you know, the basics.
Wow, probably should avoid economic topics in the future.
-
The profit maximization rule is MR = MC, Chieftard.

Are you still in Omaha? Should hang out friend.

yea but can you tell me how the upcoming trial of 2K Crawford is going to shift the demand curve? THAT is the real question. :peek:

Yes and yes, purple friend. We should root for our Huskers this fall.

Don't be such a dumbass, pad. The article referenced has zero to do with ku Athletics.
I don't know what is more amazing:
1. the ksu foundation having to ax 13 positions AND implement an 11 day furlough
or
2. the ksu foundation's tiny portfolio. your donors are pathetic.
You talk about ku athletics discontinuing their discount tickets for faculty - - :jerkoff: - - What you don't mention is all the layoffs, furlough's, etc. that kuEA has had to implement. Oh, that's right. There are none.
ksu foundation management = crap. ksu donor base = crap x2. dax trying to compare the ksu foundation to ku Athletic Corp. = dax is a &@#%ing idiot.
Dax finally understanding that ksu is not the flagship university in the state = :curse:  :angryMJ: :banghead:
Dax, put yourself out of your misery.
-
Not surprised . . . I saw a story on the news the other day that said almost all US collegiate foundations had seen their investment portfolio drop in value significantly . . . 20-30-40% in most cases.
How many are laying people off? ku dropped significantly more than ksu and there are no layoffs or furloughs to speak of.
ksu foundation management = a bunch of hillbilly bean counters
-
Who gives a sh1t? Nothing to take pride in. I don't want anyone to be poor. Even purple people.

Have they started construction on those new basketball facilities yet?

LOL at Deluge . . . you know awhile back there was an article about the various foundations and the ask the ku folks how ku was faring in the "down" economy and they said the ku endowment was down an "undisclosed" amount . . . translation: The Economy has raped us. (They must have the same spokes person as ku athletics, the same people who say Tom Kivisto is "Current" on his donations, but mysteriously report a $3.1 million loss on its annual report on a non receipt of a "promised donation". The same bunch who reports $81 million dollars in revenue to the DOE for FY 2008, but then says it can't afford Faculty discounts because it had $53 million in revenue for FY 2008 and that expenses almost exceeded revenues . . . where's that picture of Tom "orange suit" Kivisto getting honored at the ku football again?).
FY 2008 Total Donations:
K-State $99.5 Million
ku $112.5 Million
FY 2007 Donations:
K-State: $91.5 Million
ku: $94.9 Million
FY 2006 Donations:
K-State $92.8 Million
ku: $99 mil

Please find the article that mentions kuEA being down and "undisclosed amount". I'll be waiting.
Regarding Tom Kivisto: Nobody was lying when they said Kivisto was current on his pledge. Even a dipcrap like you knows that pledges are done over a period of time; typically 5 - 7 years. The 3.1M that you reference (which may or may not be true) is representative of the outstanding pledge. Why would kuEA's annual report not reflect broken pledges? When you count pledges as fundraising totals on a yearly basis then you should subtract those totals when it becomes clear that they won't be realized. What's next, are you going to tell me that the ksu foundation doesn't count pledges in their fundraising totals? Gawd, you're a &@#%ing idiot.
Oh, and please come back with numbers that aren't reflective of a time when the following two things were happening:
1. the ksu foundation was wrapping up a $500M+ campaign (lol at that considering no respected university is doing anything under a billion. Before you open your gash, realize that ku will be announcing a 1B campaign within the next two years.
2. ku had just come off a campaign in 2005. 95% of major gifts were raised during the campaign period. How convenient of you to compare numbers of when ku was just off a campaign to ksu being in the middle of a campaign. Feel free to post figures from 2001 - 2006. lol at Dax manipulating numbers to make himself feel better.
Your infatuation with all things ku is puzzling to say the least.

I think I can't read the article (link expiration) and that I don't care if KSU cuts 1,000 jobs, so long as Bill's objectives are met.
Elected by popular Wildcat national vote to lead KSU's marine operations into large-scale water-calming missions.

LOL at Deluge . . . he tries so hard.
ku only had a $500 million dollar campaign.
How can the REAL numbers be "manipulated"?? Geezus you're a tard. Oh wait, because K-State was in the middle of a "campaign" the numbers aren't real . . . gotta love that KthUg logic at work.
But nice to see a school that has 1,000's fewer alumni than ku, has so much annual giving.
ku athletics . . . even though they steal $2 million dollars a year from the students in fees, and are supposedly rolling in cash . . . won't give any discounts to faculty and staff. Pathetic.

No Bentard aka Captain Meltdown they haven't . . . you've been told 1,000 times that the timeline for start of construction has always been the Fall of 2009.

ku's last campaign kicked off two days after 9/11. ku ended up with over $600M on that campaign and is scheduled to kick off over a billion $ campaign within the next two years. When is ksu's next campaign? (fyi: it won't be for another 7 - 10 years unless your new administration pushes one through; in which case your donors will be bankrupt).
And yes, comparing fundraising totals between one foundation that is in a campaign to another that is not, is not apples to apples. What's even more sad? ku's annual fundraising totals still were higher even when ksu was in a campaign.
I assume that you understand my point even though it doesn't support yours.
-
KSU is in the process of planning for a $750 million to $1 billion dollar "campaign".
Plus, what don't you get about the reality that ku has 1000's more alumni than K-State does??? (It's kind of like trying to explain that you don't need to spend $30 million dollars . . . well $20 million dollars since the engineering, site prep and practice fields took up nearly $10 million ... on a new football facility when you've already got one.) What's even more funny is that ku's previous giving record of like $102 million for one year, nearly half came from one donation from the Hall Foundation . . . and that was during a "campaign", so using Deluge/KthUg logic that doesn't really count . . . . but reading the annual report for that year from the ku foundation they didn't put any * next to the numbers and note "Happened during a campaign therefore it doesn't count."
In terms of Tom Kivisto, all we have is ku athletics "word" that he was current on his donation (but strangely report a $3.1 million loss on a "promise to give" donation) . . . the same people that report $81 million dollars in revenue on financial reports, and then say they only got $53 million dollars in revenue that same year and therefore can't afford to give faculty and staff a discount on their tickets . . . the same bunch that uses student fees to build a facility that 99.4% of the students will never set foot in.
Associate Athletic Director Jim Marchiony said the athletic department could not pick up the cost of the discount program, but said the department would continue to allow faculty and staff ticket holders to sit in preferred seating locations without the requirement that they become donors to ku Athletics. The department also offers a special half-season ticket package to faculty and staff that is not offered to the general public, Marchiony said.
ku Athletics generated about $53 million in revenue for the 2007-2008 school year, according to the department’s annual report. But Marchiony said expenses are near the $53 million mark as well. (LJ WORLD April 1st, 2009)
Discontinuing ku staff discounts
Recently University of Kansas Executive Vice Chancellor Richard Lariviere told employees and retirees the university would no longer offer 20 percent discounts to athletic events nor provide retired faculty free tickets to Lied Center events, thus saving $451,000, about the equivalent of 11 employee salaries (4/3, Local).
ku gives few benefits to its faculty. Many universities provide free tuition to faculty children and health insurance to retired faculty. Not at ku. Recently ku began charging retired faculty to park on campus, formerly a perk. About the only benefits retired faculty received have now been rescinded.
Many retirees on fixed incomes have been adversely affected by the economy and will give up the higher-priced tickets so the university can sell them at full price to others. One wonders why the $451,000 wasn’t taken from salaries of the athletic department and administration.

Why would expect any different from any university, all they care about is money and their athletic departments.

'Pad.... ku's budget was $27 million when Perkins took over. Now it's around $55 million. Don't act like he hasn't done anything. Don't act like ku's struggling financially. They just built a multi-million dollar clubhouse for the baseball program, are almost finished with a multi-million dollar basketball practice facility, are in the process of putting $55 million into Allen Fieldhouse renovations, also in the process of renovating the Jayhawk towers, and have already developed plans to build an olympic sports complex. Before you go all postal on me and reply with a hate-filled post, I'm not saying anything negative about K-State. I'm simply pointing out to you that ku is doing pretty well under Perkins.
-
daxitive, I'm off to the grape scout board for a look-see. See you there! Meanwhile, I'll just go ahead and leave this tab open to confuse you again (and again and again).
:fiesta:
-
Captain Meltdown . . . you're so far behind the curve you can't catch up. If you listen to BigJkutard and people like that, you'd think that ku is just rolling in the cash . . . well apparently not, if ku athletics can't afford a $481K hit to the budget in order to give faculty and staff a break.
I never said Perkins hasn't done anything . . . and its student housing fees paying for Jaysquawk tower improvements, and its about time, that place was a roach motel for years.
DocStalkSmith . . . we can always count on you to have anything of interest linked back to the phogtards in .08 seconds in your perpetual state of monitoring K-State athletics.
Yes, we all know the old "leave the tab open" trick DocStalkSmith aka Captain Meatgazer.
-
Cutting $481,000 in spending towards faculty seating seems like a good business move to me, 'Pad. Perkins knows how to maximize his profits.
-
Of course you would think that Captain Meltdown.
I guess BigJkutard and others trying to paint a picture of ku rolling in mountains of cash is a bit overblown.
