Title: Real football thread
Post by: Tulsa Cat on April 09, 2009, 09:57:27 AM
I think its time for a thread about X's and O's.

We all know about the competition at QB.  Kassanvoid (sp) seems interesting to me due to his attitude.  But how are his physical capabilities.

At RB who do have? I honestly can't remember.

TE ?

WR we have the ever popular banks and Lamark.  Who will be a posession receiver?

On Defense.  Who is going to be the big hitter.  The man to make the crowd stand up and the game change?  Do we have one of those?

Any thoughts or comment will be at the least entertaining and at the most informative.

Kass is going to be interesting I think.

The kid from Colorado ran the ball a lot as well in HS.

In my opinion they should move Cuba to FB. He's 6'2 - short for a tight end but great size for a FB. Kid can probably move fairly well too, wasn't he recruited at RB when he came out of HS?

He's not even on the team anymore

I'd guess on our current roster the FB job is Braden Wilson's to win or lose.  Dold probably will be a back-up at either FB or
RB.  I'm guessing Snyder will be trying to find someone at RB who has a bit more speed.

Well, it's going to have to be Josh Cherry then.

We all know about the competition at QB.  Kassanvoid (sp) seems interesting to me due to his attitude.  But how are his physical capabilities. It's prolly going to be Coffman all year

At RB who do have? I honestly can't remember. Nobody

TE ? Mastrud is pretty good

WR we have the ever popular banks and Lamark.  Who will be a posession receiver? Prolly Quarles

On Defense.  Who is going to be the big hitter.  The man to make the crowd stand up and the game change?  Do we have one of those? No

I am firmly on the Kass bandwagon.  His name is fun, can imagine hearing it on tv.

has there been any for sure statements on the type of D we run from players?

All of our receivers last year besides Lamark were midgets.

So no running backs.  That means a lot of jailbreak screens to a receiver in motion or the tight end trailing a receiver.  That calls for pin point accuracy by the QB and a semi to solid O-line.

I am assuming we don't have that.  So that leaves dop back to pass and QB scramble for life up the middle as our bread and butter play. A dual threat QB is almost required to have any success.  :curse:

I really think that may be too simple to defend.  Offense is going to be ugly this year.

On the other hand we may have an unknown element arise.  Like a running back or accurate qb.  Or maybe every team we play will get sick just prior to gametime.  I did hear that KSU is getting a bio terrorism grant from the feds didn't I? :ksu:

worried about ol, lb's, wr's, qb, and safeties.

on the bright side, mastrud should be ready to be dominant.

He just needs to work on not fumbling. I think Mastud is a quality player though.

If we do go with the 4-2-5, I hope to see DTig break out in a rover type position. And Herndon could emerge as a good SS. FS up for grabs?

WR is a mess.

Ernie Pierce isn't a midget.  :dunno:

On defense,

I assume a return to the 4-3 or perhaps a 4-2 with 5 defensive backs.  Linebackers have always been key to Snyder defenses.  We need a stud at the mike position.  Who steps up? Class? Anyone?
