Title: MLB.tv
Post by: ChicoRodriguez on April 05, 2009, 10:26:12 PM
Does anybody have MLB.tv or know somebody who does?  Thoughts?  I'm thinking about it but can't decide between the regular or premium.  I'm just asking somebody to convince me that this is worth it.

I buy the premium every year, but I get mine discounted.  The premium is worth it if you can afford, just a better picture quality, its high def, you can skip to previous innings if you missed something.  Its worth it to me.

It is excellent.  I've had it for several years, and they keep getting a little better every time around.  The extra picture quality is great as long as you have sufficient bandwidth.

This year they have tossed in some basic DVR functionality, including that jump-to-inning feature.  They have improved their multi-view option a little, I guess, but that wasn't a huge draw for me.  The other regular-vs-premium feature that's new this year is, I guess, the ability to get one of the radio audio streams over the video stream instead of the TV commentary, which I haven't tried out so far, because Ron Santo is brutal on the radio.

I've got the mlb channel.  Haven't watched it much, since I don't usually have the TV on much more than to watch recordings of 24 and Heroes or a Royals game or the nightly news.

I picked it up, opening day.  So far I'm fairly satisfied.  There were the expected glitches on the first two days but now its running on all cylinders.

Yeah.... so the daughters can watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Phineas and Ferb (which is the funniest kid's cartoon out there right now), and any movie they have on tape/disc.

I'm visiting family who have Direct TV and they're showing a free preview this week. I'm hooked! I've been able to see all of the Royals games. I'm not the biggest baseball guy but I can watch a few innings here and there so it would be worth it during the boring summer months.

Oh, you're talking about MLB Extra innings.  MLB.tv is the online app.  Both are great.

I've been watching all the Royals game on Fox Sports on regular cable.

Don't have noggin on standard cable.  Kids get to watch some of that over at daycare.  Oldest daughter loved Bob - have a couple of DVDs.  Have read several max and ruby books to her.  I've seen plenty of Dora and Diego.  Oldest daughter even has a Dora book that has her pic and other info about her as part of the plotline.

I've got MLB.tv, and have had it for about four years now.  I love it.  Watch it pretty much every day/night.

Watchout for blackouts though.  Each zip code has one or more teams that you can't watch.  If you live in Kansas, forget about watching the Royals online.  The mlb.com site has a thing where you can type in your zip code and it will tell you which teams are blacked out.

I definitely recommend it to any hard care baseball fan.
