Sweet.
He's feeling his magic ball. Good to know we've sold 4,000 more season tickets than ISU too.

I wish we could fill up our hole with concrete and start over too but unless someone here wins the lottery and ponies up a couple hundred million bones we're stuck with what we have.

Has anyone considered moving back to Ahearn?
Something to think about.

Why don't you guys like Bram? It sure looks nice in the pictures and 13,500 is a pretty big capacity for a college arena...
-
It is just a bland, generic arena that is devoid of any uniqueness or character. It is like it was designed only to be functional. It has no style. For some reason, I think the proportions look better through a wide angle lens. Other than that, it's pretty nice.

Snart- it's really just a hole in the ground. It is "nice" I guess, there's not a bad seat in the house, but is just a lot of concrete and has very little atmosphere inside. We went from having one of the best venue's in college basketball at Ahearn Field House to one with no character, no atmosphere, and is very bleh. Don't get me wrong, I still love sharing a KATPAK with friends while watching a game there.
-
Also- it's a pretty loud building.
I think when we start building some tradition in there it will change alot of how KSU fans feel about the place.

the fans are about a gajillion feet away from the court. nothing like phog allen :frown: or duke. and the tunnel is right behind one of the baskets and the band is behind the other so there are really no fans behind the baskets. my favorite is new mexico (i don't know if is state or not, can't think right now) the pit. amazing stadium and holds in the sound like crazy because it is a hole in the ground with a roof over it.

Have you ever been to Bramlage?

are you banned from so many boards that you are reduced to fishing in the home pond?

I'm only banned from one board.
And I wasn't fishing.

Well, we can all dream Rusty.
I will say this, there is no way in hell we beat the Russians in that abortion called Bramlage! ZERO WAY! :)

The Pit isn't much different than Bramlage. The biggest difference is the seats being much closer to the court. On the outside, Bramlage looks much better than the Pit. They're both holes in the ground with a roof on top. The thing about the Pit is that you kind of feel scared for your life when you're there. You never know when you're going to get a shank in your back from a crazy Mexican. The thing really does have to hold sound really well because I've been to numerous games there and it's hard to figure out how they would make so much noise. The student section is pretty much nonexistant. It's an older crowd. It has to be all the blue-collar crazies.

no stadium with those crapty ceiling tiles in it (the concourse) can ever have history or with that pathetic purple basketball border with words like "defense", "shot clock", and "power forward" on it.

the pit is a hole in the ground with a roof on it. bramlage is a hole dug into the ground but the stadium still is halfway above. if we had the pit, we would have the hardest place to play in america.
-
My biggest problem with Bramlage is that KSU went on the cheap (again) when it was built...
Key features I wish I could change...
Location of Tunnel.
Seating that goes to courtside rather than it being a Multi-purpose arena.
Really, the big one is getting people closer to the floor...but of course, there's not room to put in pull-out bleachers.
Hilton is not that different than Bramlage, they were just smart enough to make the first "level" of seating start about 10-15ft. above ground floor level so they could put in pull-out seating for bball and wrestling etc. while being able to pull them back for other 'multi-purpose' events.
The concourses at Bramlage are gonna be grossly insufficient this year with us having a full house every night.
I'm looking forward to it.

The Pit has more seating above ground than Bramlage does.

really? it just holds the sound really well then. idk. Bramlage is one of the nicest looking stadiums. but that is the reason that it isn't as intimidating. Phog Allen looks really crapty when it is packed but it is supposedly one of the best venues, and Bramlage will still look really nice when packed but won't be as intimidating..
-
Bramlage can be very loud with 9000 people in it. I can't wait to hear it with 13000. Manhattan will be a tough place to play once again.
-
Oh, it's loud...it's very loud...and it could be downright nasty if the seating were configured better for bball.
-
There's a reason they call the place LAmes.

One time I asked Wooly about that, and he said that he wanted to go back at least for a throwback game or something. He said it was deemed fiscally impossible. :crybaby: However, I doubt Wooly pulls as much punch as Huggie does with the AD.

I've heard it would take several million just to get it up to fire code for that many people.
Does anyone think that when they put the suites in they might add a few rows closer to the floor? I don't know how feasable that is though.

no they can't do that. the seating is permanent. if they would have put pulldown bleachers then it would have been better but they did not in order to be able to hold different events there. personally, i think it looks a lot better than phog allen but it isn't as intimidating. it will be fine when we have it packed to the brim. the one thing that i wish that they did do with bramlage is to put the tunnel in the corner. i realize that this is impossible and understand that they woudln't be able to but i wish they could. they still should renovate ahearn, that place is getting ollllllllllllllllld. jmlynch1 how do you know wooly and when did you talk to him?

they are doing some things to ahearn, replacing the track surfaces and also adding A/C.

I wish we would renovated the old stadium (the stadium part) and get a lacrosse team. That would bring in a ton of money and lacrosse is the sweetest sport in existence.
