Got the e-mail tonight, anybody else excited? it's a wednesday night (april 8), tickets available this thursday at 10 am.
-
That's awesome. Ticket prices? Part of a tour or just a one-off thing? Figured someone would have heard of it before now if it was a tour.

Tickets will go on sale 10 a.m. Thursday, March 26 through K-State Athletics’ ticket office, k-statesports.com, or (785) 532-7606.
Ticket prices
K-State students: $18; $22 (Gold Ring); $27 (Floor)
Non-student tickets: $25; $30 (Gold Ring); $35 (Floor)

Does anybody know what Gold Ring means?? Maybe lower seats but not as good as floor?

jfc that's cheap at student prices and downright reasonable for non's. I can't imagine it'll get filled for the concert tho. :frown:

They're doing a quarter round, which is 3,500 seats. I've been to a lot of Ben Folds shows and this seems about right for his crowd. I think I'm going to go. Maybe take off the last two days of work before my spring break. :fiesta:

i'm thinking mccain would be a better option for this right.

The floor will be standing room only, I'm guessing, right?
-
I don't know, I actually checked on this and am waiting on an answer. As for McCain, it only seats about 2100, I think. So UPC wanted the extra 1000 seats. Plus, rock concerts in McCain-type venues are....meh.

I think the floor seats are going to be in chairs.
:blindfold:

is ben folds really "rock"?

passover seder that night. :(

Sometimes he plays Hava Nagila.
:dunno:

Yeah, that's my excuse for not going too
-
Did anybody get tickets this morning?
Mine are in row 7 on the floor but they sold out soon after that which surprised me because they usually have quite a bit of floor seating.
-
Yeah I got a ticket in the "gold ring" (very elite) row 5, I thought I might be able to see a little better higher up. I work with someone on the upc council, she said they might open up more tickets if they sell out.
-
:flush:

right after ben went solo i went w/ some people and saw him play at a bar in westport. that was cool because it wasn't some huge arena or something. anyway, we were standing just behind/above the tshirt selling stand for the whole show. decent place to stand but kinda in the back. towards the end of the show and after a couple of drinks we realized that we could prolly just help ourselves to tshirts if we wanted to, so we did. took about ten shirts. then after the show a friend had ben sign the back of his drivers license as an organ donor witness. that's all i've got.

Row 5. Suck it, Newshound.
-
Like I said, as of now it's only a quarter round, so there won't be that much seating anywhere, really. So section 8 is kinda near or in the horseshoe where the old people sit for EMAW games, right?
RickDaris: Holy crap! That's awesome. Was that the show at the Beaumont Club in '02? I was there. But I paid for a shirt. :curse: If I had known that nine years later I would be internet associates with a merch thief I would've joined this board way sooner.
Who do you work with, RacquetCat?

Row 5. Suck it, Newshound.
I actually had row 3, but I was an idiot and backed out to see where the "gold ring" tickets were since I wasn't sure if I really wanted floor seats (girlfriend is pretty short). Anyways, 2 minutes later i was back to row 7, and yes, I was pretty pissed at myself.
We should probably get really high out in the parking lot beforehand.

yeah, that was the show. thought it was a really good one. love watching shows in places like that but unless we're talking def lep in 1989, bramlage can gtfoomf ya know?
-
I was at Def Lep in '91 for the Adrenalize tour. Wish I had been at the Hysteria one in '89 but I was in like first grade. I was, however, mature enough to handle the Lep in '91.
And gtfoomf? Why don't YOU gtfoomtf? Soul Asylum in 1996 was the bomb.

that '89 def lep show was like a watershed moment for my mhs class on '93. 90% of people arrived at the school the next day wearing def leppard shirts. i was one of the cool 5% w/ an la guns one. asking someone from my class about this is prob like asking someone really old what they were doing when they found out that kennedy had been shot. a few years ago i was going through some insanely old stuff of mine and found the ticket (mint condition).
instantly put in my wallet behind my drivers license and now use it to freak other 93'ers out. they're all "gmafb! no seriously...GMAFB! wtf, how do you have that? bro, come check out what daris has! ridic daris absolutely ridic. gmafb w/ this. amazing bro."

&@#% doing it outside. We'll just sneak the crap in.

the OOD is non-smoking. You'll want to do anything like that outside, I would guess.

Not since the Texas game, no.

I've decided that if Ben Folds doesn't do the "Bitches Aint Shi t" cover that I will feel my ticket has been wasted.
-
Not true, it's still an awesome show, but i bet he will.

better than ben folds (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjNNxnKVEpQ)

They do a sweet version of Wounded by 3eb.
-
I wanna hear an a capella version of The Freshmen.
Semi-related: hey, remember that Nickelodeon show Welcome, Freshmen?
-
One Angry Dward and 200 Solemn Faces.
Not sure if he is going to put songs in the set from his older Ben Folds Five stuff...but that would be awesome.
Give Me My Money Back..YOU BITCH!
-
He usually intersperses at least four or five BFF songs.
-
Selfless, Cold and Composed is one of my favorite songs of all time. Would cream my shorts if he played that number.
-
Listening to it right now, awesome song.

7. Tiny Dancer(cover)
8. All You Can Eat
from there...whatever
-
Folds played The 6th annual Langerado on March 8, 2008 and was a part of the lineup for the 2008 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, where he announced he was playing "Bitches Ain't crap" for the last time. However he brought this song out of 'retirement' at Glastonbury 2008 telling the audience that a friend of his was getting married and they had begged him to play it at their wedding.
:-[

You guys need to come to this. It's a dope live show.
-
bet he has huge leg muscles from doing the power piano stance at concerts, maybe we should recruit him for b-ball if cousins doesn't work out, I bet he can jump real high, and he could play during half time, this just keeps getting better and better. Somebody check his eligibility!
-
Sorry, I nodded off. Did this deal already happen or what? When is it again? Hope he did Zak and Sara for you dr0udes.
-
Pretty much every song by Ben Folds Five is my favorite song. Never got into his solo stuff quite as much.
-
Rockin' the Suburbs is a phenomenal album. The two that came after that are kind of hit or almost hit. But yeah, Ben Folds Five had a ridiculous chemistry. Kind of like Beasley and Walker. Beasley and Walker were the Ben Folds Five of basketball in terms of chemistry. Yeah, that's it.
-
I went to Foreigner and Bad Company a while back.
And, yeah, that's it.
-
I went to Foreigner on Friday.

1. Army
2. One Angry Dwarf - played extremely fast
3. Bitches Aint crap(cover)
4. You Don't Know Me
5. Song for the Dumped
6. Brick
7. Tiny Dancer(cover)
8. All You Can Eat
from there...whatever
Played Zac and Sara, Annie Waits, Rockin' the Suburbs, Landed, Gone, Not The Same, Philosophy, Battle of Who Could Care Less, Jesusland, Hiroshima
...and other stuff that I don't remember. Was a good show. Fairly large crowd. The opening band didn't suck as bad as most opening bands so that was a nice surprise. Definitely was worth the price of admission.
-
Don't forget the fly song (original in manhattan) and also fastest ever one angry dwarf and 200 solemn faces, he said we were a good crowd of course he might say that everywhere amazing show and he didn't even play luckiest or brick ha ha
-
I was glad he played Gone. Solid jam, Shabamboo.

What connections do I need to get that you have to get front row seats? You weren't lucky enough to meet him, were you?

Just how I roll, d00d. Actually not. Go to K-State and work for UPC for a couple of years. Graduate and keep those friends. Be a smooth talker.
And yes, met him after the show (fourth time, though, so no biggie). Throughout the year my students have been listening to his songs and when they had some free time recently I had them draw artistic representations of his songs that they've heard*. As in, drawings of Fred Jones leaving his job sad, Zac and Sara in a guitar store, etc. Most of them are drawn by sixth graders and are hilariously bad. So I gave those to him after the show. He was into them.
*--Except for Diante P., who drastically misunderstood the assignment and drew a guy leaning on a filing cabinet for "Lean On Me." ???

I somehow was in the front row too but just out of dumb luck. Hope you weren't with the annoying girl next to me that sang along to everyone of the acapella groups songs. Not cool girl, when its an acapella group, you're not just singing along, you're participating. Not fracking cool.

Why do you guys like Ben Folds?
-
I have farts that are more entertaining than Ben Folds.
-
Ben Folds is an acquired taste. I get that.
As a muscian, songwriter, and lyricist(sp?) he is pretty franking talented.
Makes the Jonas Brothers crowd look like absolute turds. But then again who doesn't.
Jukebox the Ghost> Jonas Bros. (very ku mass street pop)

that's worth alot. You are dodging a bullet my friend. When I see their stuff, anywhere...I want to puke. These guys have no creative identity. I'm pretty sure if their label told them to start eating a bowl of their own crap for breakfast they'd ask "with our without milk".
