Title: Scariest Not Normal Recurring Dream

So, like, when I was a kid I had this recurring dream that I was on the Grand Prize Game and missed the first f^cking bucket.  I mean, at the first bucket you are just getting a Baskin Robbins sundae or whatever but you know there is amazing s#it coming down the pipe if you keep nailing buckets.  I would wake up so pissed off and sad.  Even when I realized it was a dream I would still let it ruin my morning.  What are your non-normal (ie, no naked at school stuff) recurring nightmares as kids?

i always dream that i have a coop of chickens.  the dream starts good w me all happy w my super sexy flock of chickens and then i remember that i haven't fed them in several weeks and i go check on them, and they're all dead.  i then dream that i feel really bad.

sometimes other animals, but usually chickens.  prolly chickens, 4 out of 5 dreams.

I think on the rare occasion that some tard did miss the first bucket Bozo would normally let him have a do over.

Constantly had this dream that my mom and I were visiting my g. grandma in the nursing home.  Then one of the old ladies came up to us and asked if I could stay and live with her in the nursing home.  And my mom was all like "sure".  So she put my hand into the old ladies hand and we walked away to live in the nursing home.  Had this dream like 5 times a week.

I'm sure some spider-loving tough guy will mock the scariness of this dream, but it was terrifying.

I dream I'm still awake in bed and I hear voices inside the walls talking about me. Gave me serious insomnia for years. Still happens a few times a month. I wake up when I hear my name sorta hissed from somewhere across the room.

I could never believe people wouldn't just practice like hell if they knew they were going to get a crack at throwing balls into buckets. Made me mad that I never got the opportunity myself.

You know in the movie Ghost when a bad person would get taken away by those black shadow figures that appear out of nowhere? I would dream a lot as a kid that they were carrying me away but that if I kicked and screamed enough they would drop me and leave me alone. They would always drop me just about as they got me out my bedroom door, which is when I would wake up. IN MY BEDROOM DOORWAY. :yikes:

Kids sucking at the bozo game pissed me off almost as much as kids who couldn't put together the silver monkey.

As for my dreams, I have had tons of the normal missing tests and falling dreams. Something not normal? I dreamt that two tornadoes were coming to destroy my neighborhood? Really  :ohno: right? Well I'd jump in the fighter jet that was sitting in the back yard and go tear those tornadoes up with my Harrier.

Ok, now this one really is  :ohno: . I'd wake up in my dream and open up my closet to get clothes. Well it would open up and look like a window that looks outside. And a giant franking owl would start going crazy and just peer into my window/closet at me like I was prey. Very very freaky.

This was not a recurring dream but it is burned into my brain and I wish it wasn't.  I grew up in a very conservative community.  I had a dream that I was having sex in a bed in the back of our church sanctuary.  Not so bad only it was with my sister.  I'm in the fetal position with cold sweats as I type this.  I woke up as soon as I realized what was going on in my dream.

I'll usually have a dream and everything is normal, just normal stuff happening, then I'll like open a door and the crap will go down.  And there is some old lady chasing me, I'm unsure of why I don't just beat the crap out of her as she has no weapons or anything.  (I sometimes know when I'm dreaming and I can actually do whatever I want, I'm dead serious, it's freaky, really.)  But I usually just wake myself up right when I see the bitch in my dream.  One time it took a bad turn and I woke up, got up, went to the bathroom, opened my bedroom door and she was in there again!  I then woke myself up for real this time.

But yeah, have any of you had dreams where you know you're dreaming so you just do whatever you want?

I also have dreams that I am either riding a roller coaster, and it goes up a big hill and when it hits the top of the hill, I keep going and fly out of the coaster, falling to my death, I usually find about 3 things on the way down that I can grab onto, but I am unable to do so, and I just wake up.

Lastly, sometimes I'm almost asleep and I get the sense that I'm falling and I just grab onto the bed.  My girlfriend usually doesn't like it, cause I usually end up hitting her or grabbing onto her face or something.

Skeletor came in and burned down my neighborhood.  Had this dream seriously like a dozen times.  Wasn't even a big He-Man fan as a kid.

We hid in the trunk, but all our neighbors died.

I have never had the same dream twice (at least I've never remembered having the dream more than once). I often dont remember my dreams, and from the ones I do remember I'm never aware it is a dream. I've woken up disappointed/scared many times, but never from the same dream.

One time I did dream I was having a loud argument with my mom. She kept telling me to do something that I had already done, and I shouted, at the top of my lungs, "I ALREADY DID IT!!". Both in my dream and in real life. I woke up and my mom ran into the room to see if I was ok.

Sounds like Nagini, man.

No recurring dreams for me but I do have a really weird bad dream pattern... everytime I eat ice cream before I go to bed I have bad dreams. I have no idea why but it's given me an irrational "meh" feeling about ice cream for as long as I've known. I don't understand it either, because in reality I should love ice cream. Only counts with ice cream. Popsicles, ice cream sandwiches, shakes, none of that stuff effects me. Just ice cream.

Edit: I actually do occasionally have this recurring dream where something will hit me in the mouth and all of my teeth will fall out. It never really hurts but it's really scary because I don't have any teeth anymore.

I've had the "lost my teeth" dream a few times. Seriously sucks.

I've also gotten pretty good at realizing when I'm dreaming. Most of the time, it's pretty awesome, because you can just do whatever you want. Had an excellent flying car/spiderman dream just last night.

But sometimes when you realize you're dreaming, you can't control stuff, and then you try to wake up, which is practically impossible even though you can half feel yourself trying to move your arms and stuff in real life, but you're all "sleep paralyzed" or whatever they call it. Really freaky, because you feel trapped.

Sounds amazing.  I've never realized I'm dreaming while dreaming.  I've thought about it a few times while dreaming, but always came to the dream conclusion that it was real life.

I have this every once in awhile, and it is indeed awesome. Once you realize it, you're like, "Sweet, let's see where we can take this!"

I can also tell by my dreams (for some reason always involving an old station wagon) when I'm getting sick while I sleep, like a virus hitting me or something. Which is double-weird because I will recognize it and then be like "Oh no, as soon as this dream is over, I'm gonna wake up with the flu or something".

Dude, it's great when it happens. For me, it's usually when I notice something weird in my dream world (like the house is laid out all wrong or something). Then you realize it's a dream, and it's like Neo in the Matrix. You can just lift off.

I love waking up after these sort of dreamworld-manipulation flying dreams.

I often have dreams my entire family is killed in fiery accidents, but different every time.

Car explosion, roller coaster train flying off the tracks, etc.

Also, another dream that pops up a lot is about this octopus that keeps chasing me driving a bumper car and I am running around the amusement park trying to escape

Lucid dreaming is a great thing, last time I realized I was dreaming though I woke up not long after, so that sucked

I've had another terrifying dream about 3 times over the past few months.  In the dream I've been practicing golf all summer long, and I've gotten really good.  Then these 3 guys I don't know want me to play in a tournament with them because they heard about how awesome I am.  So I agree to play and there is a ton of pressure and stuff.  We start playing and I can't hit the ball.  Like, I swing again and again and again and cannot hit it.  The guys who asked me to play are all rolling their eyes, and acting really pissed.  One of them looks at me and says "are you f-ing serious"?  Always feel terrible when I wake up.  I mean, I didn't mean to let them down.

Yup, I usually can tell that I'm dreaming in about 85% of my dreams, scary dreams I'll just wake myself up, but it takes like 10 seconds of trying to lift your arms to actually be able to do it.

Nah man.  I've totally proved it to my friends and family before too by telling them exactly what will happen next, then it does.  It's like, I get hit with deja vu, and then realize I've seen it all before in a dream, and can completely describe everything that will happen next.

It's never anything useful though.  Just completely random events..like a red car will drive by and get a flat tire, and then a blue truck will stop and help.  Or that I'll go to Texas for a KSU game, and run into someone I haven't seen since elementary school even though they don't even live in Texas.  A lot of random crap like that.

Very  :ohno:

I know I'm not the only one this happens to though, surely someone else on ksufans has experienced the same thing.

It's just random stuff that is very common.  You've never known anything important is going to happen.  Very common because it's called "I've though about this common thing happening that could happen and every once in a while it happens and I'm all WHOOO".  Very common.

I always have dreams about tornadoes (see my storm chasing thread). Since I've always wanted to see one I always have some wild dream that I drove out and found one finally.

anyone ever dream something random that actually takes place later on?  has happened to me several times and freaks me the frack out.

another thing that sucks is when you remember something and you can't tell if that actually happened or if it was a dream.

Not necessarily common brau.  Try weird.  You've never dreamed something out of the ordinary and then it happened, EXACTLY as it happened in your dream?  Sequence of events, people, places, etc?

I have had those dreams, like something strange where bunch of people are in a car, driving down a specific road at a specific spot, and the conversation is exactly like the dream

This has happened a few times: I dream I'm roller skating up a big hill at night with my mom as she tells me she has cancer.  Very :ohno:.

1.  grinding my teeth (wonder if I actually do this in sleep?  Seems like no because dentist creams over how fantastic my teeth are despite not regularly going to dentist)

2.  signing up for a class, but not going all semester and then failing at the end

3.  a non-stop series of people from the past and present just looking at me and expressing their disappointment/displeasure.  Like POV pr0n, but not at all good.

Looks like "teeth falling out" has to be crossed of the list of "not normal recurring dreams". Pretty much everyone has them:

Tooth loss dreams are profoundly disturbing and extraordinarily common...

Tooth loss dreams are symbolic of the deepest fears human beings have. Here is a guide to understanding the meaning of these dreams.

1) Fear of Death and Growing Old
2) Symbol of Powerlessness
3) Tooth Loss Dreams as Fear of Change
4) Fear of Failure or Embarrassment
5) Butt Sex
6) Poor Health and Financial Instability
7) Abandonment
8) Loose Lips Sink Ships
