Time to offer the $$$$$, I would be depressed if Frank left.  Being a KSU fan would be utterly worthless at that point.

great 'cruting class coming in and we show him lots of love.  /broken record

but seriously, Frank knows what loyalty is.  This is something with the Cuban community when they make a commitment to someone.

Is he ready to be head coach at a Big 12 school? Seems like a very quiet guy on the bench... obviously he must know some things about basketball if players like to follow him everywhere...

If Miami's A.D. pulls that crap he would have to turn in his EMAW card.  Kirby Hocutt wouldn't chop the balls out of KSU fans around the world by stealing Frank.
Title: Re: rumor
Post by: doom on March 15, 2009, 10:00:31 PM
Ireally think Frank would stay if we pay him enough and do it before Miami comes a calling.  I think he'll more successful here also with the foundation that has already been laid.  I also think we could just use all of the money we were going to pay Frank if he leaves and get Dalonte.  Furthermore we will probably do none of this and hire Jank.   :banghead:

all we have to do is very quickly hire hocutt and then miami won't have an AD to hire martin.  two birds one stone. maybe more like two cats one stone (or something funnier).  :ksu:

Title: Re: rumor

what the frack is the timeline for hiring an AD?

qft.

Schulz is going to bring in a good ol' boy buddy with absolutely ZILCHO Kstatetriotism and we'll end up with a SLTH that formerly coached at Mississippi State.

Hell, we can even get their play by play announcer. It's how Wyatt landed this gig from Colorado State. He was Weiser's chum out West.

If Frank would just give us two or three more years and maybe a deep run in the NCAA Tourney, a conference title (tourney or regular season)..and THEN he moved on then I would feel more "okay" with it. I'd still be broke up about it but not near as bad as if he leaves us before Jam Sam is a junior at least. :banghead:

I was laughing so hard at that avatar I almost forgot my counterpoint.  kuDOS (VHAIQ Very High Avatar IQ)

Frank aint going anywhere as long as he gets love from KSU.  He's got a great gig here!
School that has an us against the world mentality that matches his own.
Better chance to win in this conference.
Campus that minmizes distractions to his players.  Just ask Denis what school is better for the players that actually want to better their game?
With the exception of Seff, he's as good, if not better than any of his conference brethren.
The players he's brought to the plains have enjoyed it here and can help him recruit.

ESPN Radio actually played some Miss St radio highlights from the SEC Championship game yesterday and the guy is actually completely old school.  I am pretty sure he is about 75 years old and smokes 6 packs a day.  I think he smokes during the game, I could hear him inhale a couple of times.  It was kind of fun to listen to.

Totally agree on Frank being gone if offered.   Come on, he'll take Hill with him, and they'll laugh about how much easier it is to pull guys out of dreary east coast cities to Coral Gables Florida as compared to Manhattan . . . then toss in Frank's connections in Florida.   It's an absolute no brainer for Frank.

Plus, he'll be in a conference where his program won't finish in 4th place 3 years in a row and get passed over for the NCAA tourney 2 out of those 3 years.

Goodbye Frank . . . it was kind of fun while it lasted.   :-[

I will say this, Hocutt would have to bring a lot to the table to get any coach including Frank.   I did a little research . . . UofM makes the b-ball team fly commercial . . . major pain in the ass, they don't get much overall fan support, no basketball practice facility and despite the new arena it is a multi-purpose facility . . . but it does sound like Haith is proactively trying to leave hotseat or not.   So that's not a big lure to future coaches without major changes.

Heres a valid reason why he won't leave: we took a BIG chance with hiring him and gave him a head coach spot at a big time school probably at least 5 years before he would have had another opportunity like this, if he is at all EMAW he will stay.

That said this is still just a rumor and probably not true at all, Frank loves k-state and bleeds purple :kstatriot:

Frank has been basically saying he's gone for the past 3 weeks.  I guarantee in his introductory press conference at The U, he says something about going to the ACC conference and the respect that conference gets and how if you finish 4th in that conference you get a 5 seed.  Wally and Rodney have to be pissed right now.

Frank has been basically saying he's gone for the past 3 weeks.  I guarantee in his introductory press conference at The U, he says something about going to the ACC conference and the respect that conference gets and how if you finish 4th in that conference you get a 5 seed.

yes. this all really reminds me of that sixth sense movie where bruce willis doesn't realize he's dead until the end and then he all the sudden starts putting everything together. frank's been dropping haley joel osmond hints left and right and i just flat out didn't pick up on them until a few days ago. maybe i just didn't want to notice. the look he had on his face this weekend was impossible to miss though. he's gone. miss you frank.  :frown:

Frank will take it if they offer but I highly doubt that happens.  They will go after bigger names then Frank Martin.  Also remember the scandal down there it would create a lot of press down there to hire Frank.

They are going to fire their coach because he made the NIT instead of the NCAA.  Highly doubt they decide to replace him with another coach who has only two years of exerience and is also playing in the NIT.   I like Frank but I think some over value his value on the open market.    He's not Bob Huggins in that regard and he just hasn't done enough to be a hot commidity yet.

Nationally if he even has a perception it is that he inherited Beasley and Walker from Huggins and did ok but not great with them.   This year's season was solid but it's not like people in the ACC are taking notice of a team that went 9-7 in the big 12.  Frankly they don't have much respect or concern for big 12 bball in the ACC.  The only thing that makes me think this is at all possible is the fact the Hocutt is the AD and he probably has been paying attention to what Martin has done at KSU.  Your typically Miami AD probably couldn't name the bball coach at KSU.

Frank Martin is just more than Frank.

The assumption is that Dalonte brings his talent with Frank whereever Frank sets up shop.

That's the investment= why we hired Frank in the first place, remember?

Beacuse we got to keep Walker and Beasley kept his commitment. Here we are two years later.

I think Miami would do whatever they could to get Frank and Dalonte, personally. Miami knows this. They are just like West Virginia. They know that if they make a move, its to their benefit.

This is a perfect example of why UM basketball fans are the worst - manufacturing controversy where none exists.

That said, if Frank Haith were to leave, the first man the UM powers-that-be should target is former Miami Senior High School and current Kansas State head coach Frank Martin, a Miami native and FIU grad. Martin's record at Miami Senior - one of the perennial powers in Florida - includes 5 state titles (2 as head coach) in 8 years as an assistant to the legendary Shaky Rodriquez, and 7 as head coach. He sent 14 players from Miami Sr. on to D-1, including current NBA players Udonis Haslem and Steve Blake. Bob Huggins hired him at Cincinatti and then took him with him to Kansas State, where Martin recruited two players drafted by the NBA last year - Michael Beasley and Bill Walker. Frank Martin is an outstanding coach, an outstanding recruiter, and would do what Randy Shannon is in the process of doing right now - keeping all the outstanding local talent at home.

Miami Hurricanes' season ends with loss to Florida Gators
Miami's season ended with a second-round loss to Florida in the NIT, but Frank Haith said he would 'absolutely' return as UM coach next season.

Boxscore | Florida 74, Miami 60
BY JOSEPH GOODMAN
[email protected]
GAINESVILLE -- The Florida Gators' next game is Tuesday. The Miami Hurricanes' next game is sometime in November. And coach Frank Haith said Friday that he ''absolutely'' will be coaching it.

The Gators defeated the Canes 74-60 on Friday in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament at O'Connell Center. UF (25-10) will play host to Penn State (24-11) at 9 p.m. Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the NIT. Miami, ranked No. 17 nationally in the preseason, ended its season with a record of 19-13.

After the game, Haith addressed rumors that he might be interested in leaving Coral Gables, possibly for the University of Alabama. Asked if he will be back at Miami next season, Haith said: ``Absolutely.''

''I'm not going to say I'm interested in a job,'' Haith said. ``Obviously, it's nice to be wanted, but I think I'm needed in Miami. I've enjoyed my time in Miami. I'm enjoying my time in Miami. All that is, is just rumors.''

As for Haith's Hurricanes, they were rumored to be back on track after a win against Providence in the first round of the NIT on Wednesday.

That speculation turned out to be false. Miami missed its first seven attempts of the game -- all from behind the three-point arc -- and fell behind early.

''Early in the game there's no question we took a lot of quick, long jump shots and it put us in a bind,'' Haith said. ``I felt like that was something we did that really hurt us.''

Florida led 25-9 with 9:35 left in the first half when Miami's first three-pointer finally fell, a shot by senior guard Jack McClinton.

McClinton scored 13 points in 37 minutes in the final game of his collegiate career. The loss didn't seem to affect him much, though. Afterwards, he had already forgotten that his career at Miami was over.

''[Friday night], we didn't get the win, but there's more basketball to play,'' he said.

Maybe for the Gators, but not the Hurricanes. Whereas Miami struggled in the first half, Florida started a game better than it had all season. UF shot 63 percent in the first half, a season best.

UF starters Walter Hodge, Dan Werner, Erving Walker and Nick Calathes each made three-pointers in the game's first eight minutes to build a 20-2 lead.

Calathes finished with a game-high 21 points and also added seven assists and six rebounds.

Florida forward Alex Tyus had 13 points and 12 rebounds to counterbalance a solid performance from Miami forward Dwayne Collins, who finished with 17 points and eight rebounds.

''We came out energized and we just got the stops,'' Calathes said. ``We made shots and when we make shots it's a lot easier.''

Miami finally found its form with six minutes left in the first half and went on an 11-2 run, which included three-pointers from McClinton and Lance Hurdle.

Miami still trailed by 13 after the spurt and UF answered when Calathes buried his second three-pointer of the game with 4:12 left in the half.

Miami cut Florida's lead to 11 points three times in the second half, but never could overcome its sluggish first half.

Haith said after the game that Miami's hectic postseason travel schedule finally caught up to his team on Friday. After playing in the ACC tournament in Atlanta last weekend, UM had a quick turnaround for its game Wednesday in Rhode Island. Miami took a plane directly from Providence to Gainesville on Thursday.

Five years into the Frank Haith era, how do fans feel about him? Do they think he’s the long-term answer for the Miami hoops program?

Popadak:
In spite of their early infatuation with Coach Haith, the rally cry of “Faith in Haith” is slowly fading among some Canes fans after the disappointing 2008-09 season. In spite of this year’s struggles, Haith has done a good job recruiting and if all of the players stick and come to Miami he has no excuses not to compete in the ACC.

Most Canes fans seem content with giving him two more years to sort things out and get ‘er done. With Jack McClinton graduating that becomes a major task looking forward.

You will be better off, one on one basketball for 40 minutes rarely works... your team will be mediocre with him as a coach.

He'll leave if offered the job.

But you don't have to worry about that because Frank is still too small of a fish. Even for Miami.

The saddest part of all of this is that Bookcat won't STFU even if someone did bookmark this in order to rub his face in it when he's been proven wrong.

please do. I'd love to be wrong on this one. But you don't think this info comes out of nowhere do you?

Don't be mad because you know absolute dogcrap about this situation.

The only reason everyone here is scared is because they are under the imaginary impression that Frank is a hot commodity out there in the coaching market.

You should find it comforting.

Help me help you.

Look we all know what a hot commodity Frank Martin is.  If he's not already gone, he will be very soon.  Deal with it, people.

My point is that you won't STFU either way.  If I'm mad about anything, it's that.

We shouldn't talk too loudly our sister school might hear that Martin might want to leave and let Krazuskii (coach K) go so they can hire him   :runaway:  :ohno:
