At right guard, Andale graduate Gerard Spexarth has been bumped aside by redshirt freshman Brock unruh. Spexarth, a sophomore, isn't even listed on the two-deep -- junior Logan Robinson, who has played in two games in the past two seasons, is listed as Unruh's backup.
Spexarth, who has started two games this year, also wasn't available -- only three of a requested 28 players showed up for Tuesday's interviews.
His father, Fred, can't make sense of it.
"I don't know," he said. "It's just amazing to me. He can start (two) games, and then he can go to a nothing.... I don't quite understand what is going on, and I don't think Gerard does, either."
Spexarth's father, however, insists his son enjoys playing for Prince.
you have got to be freeking kidding me? have they watched any tape at all of our right guard position. It has been the absolute worst position on the offensive line.
That sounds like the guys who said. "I started the spring game why aren't I starting now?" We have a bunch of babies that think they are @#%$ and don't want to work their asses off to get better.
Oh and you know why he went from starter to nothing? He sucked.

The problem I have with this is how do you go from starter to less than second team in one game. This isn't the only position that Prince has done this with. My best guesses are:
1) Prince is playing a motivational game with these guys by trying to piss them off. Personnally I think that will backfire very badly on Prince
2) Prince and his staff have no clue who should be starting or what to do and are just tyring anything that might work

i think your option 2 is the correct option.
nothing they've tried at that spot has worked, and so they're down to dredging up guys that haven't seen the field yet to see if there's a positive surprise there.
if unruh and robinson flame out in the next two weeks, it would surprise me not to see spexarth back in the mix.
matt boss is the only guy that seems permanently entrenched in the s.hit house.

Hey Cireksu...
How many players are going to have to leave and bitch about your coach before you start to question his tactics? Did he have to clean house? Perhaps, but what does that say about the magical grampa that was the "greatest offensive genius of our era" (Kevin Keitzman yesterday's show)?
-
Spexarth should not be playing football.
-
The magical grandpa himself said that there were certain attitudes that crept into the program over the last couple of years that he could never stamp out. I'm guessing we are seeing that playing out. And have seen in played out already with some of the defections.
Snyder also used to say that kids took playing for ksu for granted and thought by putting the uniform on that they should go out and win automatically. I would assume the same could be said for some of these people and the depth chart. They suck and they can't believe that they are not starting. Probably because they call mom and dad everynight to remind them of how good the really are.
I have a feeling that there are quite a few of these players on this team. I don't blame Prince for finding them and chasing them off. As a military kid I'm guessing that is the type of attitude that makes prince want to scream f@#$k you! in there faces.

I see WaveTheWheat is yet another ku fan who actually believes that every player who has played for Mark Mangino loved the guy. I guess he forgets that in Mangino's first year, the 0-Line coach quit before the 1st game ... and multiple O-Lineman transferred from OU with Mangino being the soul reason as to why. Nor has it all been love, happiness and bouquets at ku during other parts ManBearPig's tenure at ku.
That's what it boils down to for the squawks ... they desperately want to believe that everything is in shambles at KSU (which it may be) and that everything is perfect at ku (despite the possibility of NCAA sanctions).
Remember .... ku is a school that just gave a 5 year contract extension to a coach with an 8-25 conference record and who is 1-16 in conference road games. But they're all "perfectly happy" with the direction of the program ... all because of a good strong moral victory last Saturday against a clearly overrated NU team.
-
And in your opinion Allan Evridge was one of those type players?
-
Dax you look a wee bit defensive. Your insecurity in the direction of your football program is very apparent.

1-17 (updated to include their very Woolyesque moment last Saturday night)
I don't have any problems with anything I've read regarding Prince's actions this week. These prima-donnas that we have playing for us need a good kick in the ass.

From what I've heard about AE's mother, it wouldn't suprise me. I also think he saw the playbook and realized it wasn't for him.

You squawks are so transparent its amazing ... look at your own boards half the time ... just 2 days after a close game at NU, in yet another ManginoWooly moment, and with a home game coming up this weekend, it's all about KSU.

Let's not rehash this again- AE saw the writing on the wall.
Soul-Glo was the future of the program, not AE.

As many players as it takes to get rid of the sense of entitlement that is ramped in that program. I might question the manner at which he might go about it, but there's not denying that based on the past two years, this program is in need of an enema.

I felt I had to prove myself again.
I couldn't contribute to the team in the way I wanted.

Dax,
Why are you replying to this flame bait.....it only encourages them.

Nice post.
And I don't even like Prince that much.

Well said. I think there are better ways to motivate players than demoting them. You want your best players on the field as much as possible and they should have determined who those players were before the season began.
Another thing that makes absolutely no sense is that he is making wholesale changes to the offensive personnel and then he opens this week's press conference with this answer to the question "What's causing the trouble on offense?":
I think we’re having a lot of difficulty having any kind of consistency that puts drives together.
So there you have it. We are going to get more consistency by dumping a bunch of our starters. :banghead:

To be fair, his old starters sucked.

Through 4 games there have been no improvements at RG, QB, and RB. Why not switch some things around. Apparently the coaches felt that things were not going to get better just by playing the game so they are trying something new. I still say the best thing to do with a bad line is to have a rb that can make people miss in the backfield.

We're not trying to send a message to anybody; it's just a matter of performance.

i'm totally on board with the changes this week. i honestly believe with the freefall the past 2 years that this team may not turn the corner this year until a number of the upperclassmen move on. there certainly wasn't any way prince could come in right away and demote all of last years starters/upperclassmen, so he gave them a chance to prove themselves again and a few have like archer, echols, and diles but a lot of others like clayton, alsup, mack, freisen, seiler, meier and i'll throw in moreira, figures too, have been a disapointment. now prince has an excuse to move on from these players and try to really establish his program/attitude.
-
why not get our guys that will be here for three more years experience and pt if we aren't going to get anything out of the season by having the seniors in? i see no problem with the changes. patton and freeman are the future of the offense and we need to give them experience, i think prince has just given up on that big 12 north title and has started to look towards next year (much like I am)
