Pissclaims sez:
Several members of this board have taken it upon themselves to diagnose the problems facing our team during the recent two game losing skid, and I’m here to say I think you’ve all missed the mark.
All aspects of the team have been thrown under the bus in the past two weeks on these boards. Everything from Dylan Meier supposedly having a “sports hernia” (diagnosed by a member of this board from his viewpoint in the stands, are you kidding me?), to Ron Prince not implementing an Offensive Line blocking scheme that fits the current players in the system. We’ve seen it all diagnosed and it’s quite disturbing that many of you are forgetting that our new head coach has only coached 5 games!
Now is not the time to look at the top, but instead, look at the bottom. By “bottom”, I’m referring to #10, our Wide Receiver from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Jermaine Moreira. With 4:15 minutes left in the 4th Quarter vs. Marshall, a game in which we led the Thundering Heard by a score of 17-6, Moreira caught a 44 yard touchdown pass from Dylan Meier (Sunshine) and proceeds to take to the sky in his final yard before going into the end zone, HE DOVE INTO THE END ZONE FOR THE SCORE.
The Marshall game is not the first time he’s displayed this penchant for showboating, look below at this play vs. Texas (a play that some could argue cost the game):
After the most recent incident, Dylan Meier had this to say:
Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He told me he didn’t even know why he did it. He said he was sorry, apologized to the team, and we’re ready to move on from this.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sadly, we have apparently not moved on. Moreira’s actions have, in my opinion, driven a wedge between our Kansas State Football team and the win column. He took his own personal desire to showboat in front of a packed Fox Sports Midwest audience, as well as the 45k+ in Bill Snyder Family Stadium, over the better good of the team.
If you don’t believe my analysis, look at the stats since Moreira’s complete disregard of the rules:
a) KSU has been outscored 41-9 since the end zone dive incident.
b) Moreira has only caught 93 total receiving yards in two games.
c) KSU is 0-2 in games since the incident.
Say what you will with regards to what your diagnosis is vis-à-vis our currently losing skid, but those statistics do not lie.

He forgot to bring up one thing.
We sucked against Illinois State. Then someone(Byron Garvin?) leaped into the endzone. Afterwards, we beat Illinois State, mauled Florida Atlantic, and gave Marshall the worst beatdown in the three game series for either team.
But.
Jermaine &@#%ed up the good kharma given to the team by diving into the endzone in the Marshall game. This reversed the effect of Byron Garvins dive, and put us back in a state of suckiness.
Until someone makes a dive into the endzone, our kharma is out of line. Endzone Diving is the only way to save the season.

next O td gets an endzone dive
-
That's awesome. My favorite is the pic of Moreira making a beautifull grab (probably his best his career) yet that catch "cost us the game" :D
-
perhaps the only way to get "good enzone diving karma" is for the defensive players to do it.
-
Phreak I wish I had your additional analysis I would have included it in the original post. :frown:
I eat at my desk most days during lunch and get bored; the result of which is usually some crappy ms_paint picture or a retarded thread like that one where I can make fun of people who take it seriously.

lets hope thats true b/c it could be a while before an offensive guy gets a chance.
-
perhaps we should test the theory out by having the kickoff and punt teams all dive into the endzone after every punt (and kickoff).
I don't care if they have to run another 20 yards to the endzone to do it. Let's get it done.
and yes, i realize they're not defensive teams
