I graduate in May and will be moving out of 'tan then as well. The last week/ 2 weeks all i can do is look around and think "crap, I have a lot of crap to move outta here! my life sucks!" Is there anything worse than moving?
-
moving kinda sux. where are you moving? what are you doing (job)?
-
Moving is horrible. The key is to rent the biggest UHaul truck they make so you can get it all in one trip. Or, if your job will pay for it, make them do it. I would highly recommend negotiating moving expenses to anyone ever taking a job anywhere....always.

well we have one covered trailer (basically like a uhaul). and i have a full size truck along with my dad and 3 brothers. we have two 24ft stock trailers that are always almost spotless. So the transport part should be no problem, is the actual moving (lifting, packing, dragging, loading, unloading, etc) that i dread.

With 5 grown men you should have it knocked out in about 30 minutes though (not counting the drive obviously). Try moving heavy crap when it's just you and a wife who is small and not very strong even by wife standards :dunno:

lol, well I say I have those resources, not saying I can get them all to work. We have a family deal to that the person getting moved provides the beer :beerchug: , so this always slows things down. I assume it will probably be the day after graduation too, so hangovers for everyone, yipee

moving sucks.

Really hate moving. Also hate it when you have to make 10 trips to get all of your stuff. :curse:
-
Congratulations on graduating, be honest, how long did it take?

6 yrs. lol
first year at ESU, flunked out... to much :beerchug: & :swinglegs:
then a year and half going to Highland in Wamego to get GPA acceptable for KSU
the 3.5 years here at KSU. Hardly any hours from HCC @'mego transferred. :banghead:
-
at least you got your money's worth 8-)
-
what about when you have stairs and lots of them! :runaway:
-
You never realize how much $hit you have until you move. And, a lot of it is just worthless junk that you never use anymore.
I recommend sorting through your stuff as you pack it. Then make a trip to the landfill. It'll make the subsequent moving in much lighter (easier).
-
Moving back in with your 'rents?
-
This may or may not be worse:
My friend graduated last semester and in the final days he said "All I can think about is that I have 4 days to bang a random slut!"
-
The two worst recurring things in life are moving and job searches. IMO.
Good luck, dude.
-
When I graduated, the company that hired me paid for my move out of Manhattan. It was the only move of my life that wasn't a complete pain in the ass.
-
i've moved so much in the past 8 years (5 different places in manhattan and four other states) it's not even funny. and preparing for a potential move if we can sell our house :'(.
but yes, moving sucks.
-
Since graduation in '99 I've moved a few times.
Manhattan-->Abilene-->other side of Abilene-->Hays-->Topeka-->KC
For some reason, I always find ways to move in January, July or August. The nicest weather I've had was actually from Hays to Topeka in August. Got one of those lucky 75 degree days.
That was also the only one I rented a truck on. All the others we had vehicles and multiple trips (none were special trips, was always going there anyway and had a place to keep it at) through for the small stuff and horse trailers for the big stuff. Horse trailers are definitely the way to go. Wide, tall, not too far off the ground and most important: cheaper than UHaul. Plus whoever owns it will help you out.

Yes, there is something worse than moving. Working as a mover at Allied.
Horrible.
:blindfold:

This, and go out to ALCO. Ask them not to cut down the boxes, first.

Been gone for awhile now, bro.
The worst part about moving, especially out of college, is realizing how much extra crap you've accumulated. Not looking forward to it.

If it is a Mike Lin house (Linwood Properties) leave all your crap and skip the landfill. You aren't getting your damage deposit back anyway, make him earn it.

naw, actually have alot of respect for my landlord, has been a great guy and always keeping things up when needed for the last for years. he has already had the trash man take care of a couch, a bed and box frame, two old bars, tvs, microwaves etc for us. Found a buddy who needs a lot of furnishings for his new house next year so that helps a lot with couches, pool table, old grill, kitchen table etc.
-
i've had a rental house in mhk for about four years. haven't had to keep any deposit yet but pretty sure i'll have to do so this year. just a feeling that the turkeywhackers currently living there are gonna go out in style.

When they move out we should throw a huge pak'r and then take photos of all the damage we do (because of our wildness) and you can sue them for that damage too.

Do you have renters insurance? I say have a convienient fire in the apartment after you get most of the stuff that you like out. Then have insurence write you a check for the rest. Then you can buy new when you get to where you are going. Sorry if someone already suggested this, I didn't read the whole thread due to I'm supposed to be in a staff meeting right now.

welp its all loaded up, did it hungover this morning with some help from a couple friends. got to the point of saying "frack it" and either just launching stuff in the trailer or leaving it behind, now what might be even worse.... unloading it
