Title: Tough loss for me today
Post by: Pete on February 12, 2009, 09:36:31 PM
The garage fridge died today.  This is bad.  This is where I keep beer, extra milk  :yuck:, take out food containers, frozen pizza, other frozen foods that seemed like good ideas when I bought them, and hard liquor in the freezer.

Now I have to figure out how to get this &@#%ing thing out of my garage.  AND, given the current usage patterns of our kitchen fridge I have no place for the above mentioned items.

I also recently found out that I have to replace a roof and get work done on a car.  This displeases me a great deal.  Why does God make bad things happen to marginally good people?  :dunno:

I've said it a hundred times but have never done it due to hangovers, work (when back home), shackin up, etc. but hit up a garage sale Saturday morning, cruise around til you see a fridge, probably pick one of em up for 20-50 bones.

Thanks Ron and SD.

I don't keep crazy amounts of food on hand, but I do love to keep my booze and soda out there.

I will probably transition to a large dorm fridge thing and/or a freezer.

I know.....do you think you could get by with one of those larger dorm-esque fridges?  Seems like I could, but maybe I'd regret it.

This is why you budget and build up an emergency cash fund.  Then these things become minor inconveniences, especially when you realize its a fridge that sits on the concrete floor in the garage and has random spare car parts on top of it and a weed whacker leaning on it and can be any color, size, whatever as long as it keeps things cold.

If nothing else cut blocks of ice from the lake to keep all summer long.

hauling it off is going to blow, and if you take it to the dump they make you pay because of the freon. I recommend getting a "dolly" and dumping it in your neighbors yard a couple of doors down in the middle of the night. hth.
