You're next KSU Prez according to Mercury.

Maine Prez has "pulled out".

Well. . .

From an SEC school, talked a lot about sports in his talks and application to KSU.

Virginia Tech BS and Phd in Chemical Engineering, Higher Education leadership certificate from Harvard.

Sounds good so far.

Here's what he said about athletics in his questionnaire responses for the search committee:

Recognize and appreciate the importance of the visibility and success of K-State’s
athletic programs to students, faculty, staff and alumni and to the general well-being
of the University;

A highly successful, nationally competitive athletics program provides significant
enhancement to the overall image of a university. Indeed, many people living outside of
Kansas are familiar with Kansas State University because of the “PowerCat” logo
popularized by the K-State football team. Alumni and other constituent groups demand
excellence in athletics, and part of the challenge for the next President is to elevate the
expectation level of K-State alumni that the academic programs should also have the
same aspirations as those in athletics.
As a Virginia Tech alumnus, I have seen how the success and visibility of athletic
programs have expanded the national reputation of the institution through increased
student enrollment and additional external interest in academic related activities.
However, it will be critical to provide the leadership and financial resources necessary to
ensure that K-State athletic teams (both revenue and Olympic sports) can compete on a
national basis in all varsity sports. The national success of our athletic teams can
significantly enhance the name recognition of Kansas State University, and it will be
critical to ensure our student-athletes and coaches have appropriate facilities and
resources to compete for Big XII and national championships.

hard to pick out who's a good univ. president. educational background doesn't really say anything. president needs to be a good people person.

With the position he has now it would seem he would have to be a good "people person", logically that would be the case . . . but who knows in academia.

They had 2 academic types and 1 research/development type as the 3 finalists, and the research/development type apparently will be offered the job.

I haven't seen anything where he said he pulled out, just that when he returned from interviewing that he was happy to be at UMass.

lmao at Robert... Absolute gold.

Schulz seems to be a hand-wringing pantywaist. He's gonna have to learn how to stand his ground if he's going to deal with Frank and his tagging crew. I'd much rather have a Jesse Ventura-type dood as the next president. Schulz kinda danced around the LGBT issue but is hardcore about public transportation. Sounds perfect for KSU.

I didnt see anything in there regarding sports. Do you think he is being coerced, maybe pushed into talking about sports due to the last presidents heavy involvement?

And right on SD - total Ghostbuster. I preferred the first one - Stay-Puft was probably the coolest thing I had ever seen in my life when he bumped into the scene.

Wow.  Very solid observation.  Dr. Egon Spangler.

And, coming from Miss State, he understands that under performing black coaches, though popular with the national media, must get whacked just like crapty white ones.
