Title: samuels
Post by: mcmwcat on February 08, 2009, 10:28:19 PM
trying to picture him in 2 or 3 years.  if he's going to be a scoring option in the post it's be nice to get some d hoskins moves or add about 15 lbs.  looks kinda short out there at times against other big 12 4s.

but i do think he has held his own defensively guarding other 4s considering he fouls quite a bit but prolly not as much as other undersized 4s.

am i wrong that he is undersized at his poisition.

I agree looks like he could add some more weight and get a little stronger but don't want him to bulk up too much and lose some of athletic ability.  I think he will be fine in another year or two.  I think he is better when he can face the basket but haven't seen it much this year.

Hoskins is the wrong comparison.

Massey was 6-7, 230# during his playing days at K-State.  Currently JamSam is 6-7, 215#.  So you got the add 15# part right.  Just sayin'.

i can see him using his quickness to make some massey like moves.  massey had that left handedness advantage that is so unfair though.

He has no face up moves right now.  IMO I don't think he is comfortable enough with his ball-handling yet.  Similar to Dom Sutton who is starting to come around and actually attack the basket.  I see Jam Samuels as a Damion James? (the dude from ut)-type player in a year or two.

Jamar will be the key player for the Katz come Saturday against ku. He's far and away our best shot blocker and will be relied on to help stop the dribble drive, which has been a challenge for us all year. If you recall, Texas nearly came back from a 17 point deficit by simply dribbling the ball down, making one pass, and driving to the hoop for easy buckets.
