Title: I can't believe.......
Post by: Wildcat Jack on October 01, 2006, 07:15:36 AM
Evridge and Lopina left.  I mean if you're standing on the sidelines watching these guys you gotta believe you're gonna get a shot at some point.  Then when you get that shot you're gonna prove yourself.

Of course they might've been standing on the sideline watching the O-Line and thinking.....cripes I'm gonna get killed....I'm out.

Jack...do you seriously not understand why they left?

Especially Evridge.

Nothing to see here, keep moving.  AE left because he knew he couldn't "compete" with the likes of Bounce Pass Dylan Meier and Golden Shower Josh Freeman.

Actually, if it's in all seriousness....I don't understand why they left.  I don't pretend to think I know the ins/outs of their decisions.

WN,

Do you believe that AE left because Prince had already handed him the job or are you referring to something else?

I think it's pretty clear that AE left because he felt the deck was stacked against him.

What I find interesting is that of the two QB's we have, neither of them are very productive in an offense where they should be.

Dylan has played marginal, and I really thought he'd get better as he seemed to grasp Snyder's offense very well.  Even playing in backup to Roberson, he seemed to do things well.  Of course, he had a much better O-Line..

All I'm saying is that the writing was on the wall...AE saw it and took off.   He's not a quitter or a non-team guy.  That Freeman was just named the starter was about as surprising as the sun coming up.

I'm not suprised that Freeman was named the starter, I'm just suprised that Prince did it after such a poor performance by Freeman.  Prince's strength to date as a head coach has been as a marketer of his program.  I expected the change to be made after Dylan had a bad game and Freeman could come in an be the savior off the bench.  Naming Freeman the starter after a 3 int, 33% completion, 0 point performance makes it very obvioius the what we were hearing from the QB's who left were true.  If Prince was ready to name Freeman the starter for OSU then I would of expected him to leave Freeman on the bench and let Dylan struggle for the whole game.  It looks really bad when you name him the starter after this bad of a performance.

I'm getting very concerned about this Prince hire. :frown:

No one should be productive behind this offensive line.  Any offensive production we get is in spite of that fact.

I don't think it's that obvious.  It's and inference by people that don't know...it's an inference made plausible by the poor performance thus far.  Look I'm not defending Prince, but we really don't know the situation.

Now if you're Everidge or Lopina, knowing these are the types of QB's we have, don't you think you're going to get a legitimate shot....There's no way one of those two wouldn't be getting a shot right now and if you're a decent QB that's all you need is a shot....you prove it on the field and it won't be taken away from you.

Either of those guys would've had a shot this year with these as our top two QB's.....they just needed to bide their time....that's all I'm sayin'.

It's funny how everyone forgets Evridge's 8-37 112 yard performance to end the 2005 season.

He would have helped for depth, but even with Bill Snyder Meier would still be the starter.

Fatty,

He was playing hurt, and you know that, too.

OK, that's the last time I defend Allan. But I'll add this - he had a feeling things were going to play out the way they did yesterday.

Jeff, only Meier can use the injury thing.  Also, Evridge was playing behind the Big 12's most prolific, fantastic offensive line last year.  Maybe if Allan's dad was trying to lead the republican party in the state of Kansas, then he could have stayed.

Yes, and Dylan Meier has been hurt since he came to K-State. The injury excuses are lame.

J-Mart, outside of a 357 yard performance vs AtM (You can throw for 300+ on the aggies) AE averaged 129 yards per game. And if Snyder stayed on staff, he was going to start Meier (per kevin kietzman)

At least I spell his name right. It's E-V-R-I-D-G-E!

Why wouldn't Prince just start Freeman from the start?  Could he have a worse PR mess than he has now?

I assume that Prince thought that Meier could do well this year and  go off into the sunset after a bowl game and at the same time give Freeman some quality playing time.  Freeman would have been in a win/win situation, but Prince's handling of AE puts even more pressure on Freeman, torpedos be dammed.
