Works great for staying in touch with old friends scattered about.  For some reason, it works better than email - more casual or something.  Plus, you can create different groups for different circles of friends.  Kinda like having a private message board.  This facilitates things like simple bullsh*tting or coordinating a rendevous at Bonnaroo really well.

The problem with facebook is that it is "mainstream" now, and old ass people join.  In the past week, I've declined being friends with my aunt, my 8 year old cousin, my boss, and my minister.

facebook was fun a few years ago when it was geared for college students/recent alumni.

now it's pretty terrible.  noone puts any questionable content up anymore because their coworkers and family members are facebook friends.  all the awesome pictures of college coeds making out with eachother are almost gone.

There were always much better sites to go to for objectionable content.  It still has a lot of value as a networking tool.  In that regard, it's better that it's mainstream.

If you use Facebook for networking your career is a hindenburg.

part of truly not giving a f*ck about what people think is having the ability to say, "f*ck you, preacher!  we will not be facebook friends".
