Title: Separating recruiting from "coaching"
Post by: kougar24 on February 02, 2009, 02:14:02 PM
Now officially the biggest annoyance to me when listening to pundits / idiotic fans talk basketball. I've realized that it seriously pisses me off when people try to act knowledgeable when judging coaches while treating recruiting as a totally external factor.

Anyone else discover this while enduring the Frank v. SLTHs war?

In two years, Frank will look like a genius.

Assuming that he keeps the 2010 class intact, we'll have as much talent on this roster as any other team in the conference.

2010-2011 - Frank Martin = "Big 12 Coach of the Year"

 :jerkoff:

Recruiting abilities have never stopped K-State fans from calling Bill Self a "garbage coach," even though the guy signs top 5 recruiting class after top 5 recruiting class.

Okay, top to bottom?  No.

Lining up the best 7-8 against each other?  Maybe.

In two years, we'll have:

Pullen (SR)
Samuels (JR)
Judge (SO)
Kelly (SR) - And, yes, I know he sucked at UConn, but the dude was awesome as a prep
McGruder (SO) - Kid can ball
Sutton (SR) - Defensive beast
Mitchell (FR) - The kid is going to be good

That's a solid lineup of talent there.  I'd take those seven and put them up against what almost anyone else has.  Especially the Nortards.

Not trying to be Powertardy, but I like this roster is taking shape.  I really like it.

Yeah bro, I like it too.  But, it will probably put us somewhere in the 5th-7th range in the conference (obviously dependant on a lot of things that could happen going forward).
