we lose beasley and walker off a team that went just 10-6 in the league, we don't recruit ANYONE and everyone expects the team to be in contention, and better than teams like Mizzou, ISU, NU and CU. Why? Do you not realize those teams also try? We aren't talented. Get that out of your head now. A team that has had three coaching changes in four years is not going to have a talented, experienced and balanced roster. Mostly at a place like KSU.
-
The level of competition demands success. Simple as that.
-
lame. i was expecting a better meltdown. :flush:
-dude
-
I am guessing the anger comes from the fact that Huggins got a team of Wooly players to also go 10-6
-
I thought it probable we would lose today. But to play this dumb and get run out of Devaney is inexcusable.

We aren't very talented but we are more talented than Nebraska's midgets and we are getting out clocked cleaned. wtf?
-
Even more ouch. A 2007 KSU vs. NU football game mention. :blindfold:
And of course you're going to suck when you have a kid starting for you that was offered by only us and the Special Olympics coming out of high school, and gladly accepted our scholie offer. *Cough* Kent *Cough*
Not to mention Merriweather is playing just about as much as Samuels. :curse:

huggins 06-07 team was full of upperclassmen. hoskins and martin were way better than anyone on this trash team.

meh. whatever. we would have melted down even had we lost by 7 or so. my point is it's hilarious how easy these ksu fans thought it would be.

agreed... but please tell me how we can have higher expectations for next years team than we did for last years (considering it was 10-6)... judge/macgruder/henriquez/russell are certainly no better than beasley/walker/pullen/etc...

I agree. Have you read my posts? People expecting 09-10 to be better than 07-08 are dumb.

GMAFB with that crap.

This is the most talent we've had in 20 years. Just stfu dude. I like slumming with Iowa St. :whistle1: (ftp://:whistle1:)
-
The most talent of what in the last 20 years???? We got like maybe 2 or 3 scorers on our team and they are never on the court at the same time. We are getting destroyed by an average Nebraska team that is playing fundamental basketball on offense. While we stand around on offense and wait for someone to shoot.. Come on Frank...get an offense...Please!!!!
-
21 turnovers! :skillz:

As far as rivals is concerned, yes, this is the best. :whistle1: (ftp://:whistle1:)

When did rivals scout these guys..cuz none of them can score on a middle schooler!!!

GMAFB with that crap.
I bet you also wanted Wooly to get a contract extension.
-
I get what you are saying fat. I never expected us to be great. I figured we'd have our struggles. What I didn't expect was for us to look utterly lost out there. I'm sick of hearing myself bash Frank but we look like we don't even have a coach out there.
Meh, we've been laying eggs against NU for years, hopefully we will rebound from this. I just wanna see this team improve as the season goes on. NIT would be gravy.

well, every team will look "utterly lost" sometimes.
two years ago we lost @ ku and @ nu and to tech at home
last year we lost @ ku and @ nu and to texas at home
I realize this year they have been by a bigger margin, but the people who just expected we'd win games this year because we made the NCAA's last year deserve the misery they endure.

Fatty faces facts.
You guys suck.
end of story.

Kent provided some of the few bright spots in this game. He's not good, but he's not a good scapegoat right now either.

nice thread fats.
We have two top 100 players on the roster. (one never plays (:dunno:)).
Just hang on for the NIT, which is all anyone non-retarded hoped for this season.

great thread trips.
don't see how it is rational to expect an nit. wooly never made the nit with far better and deeper teams. and the nit is smaller now.

The NIT is an elite event now????? Who even won the NIT last year???? Are you serious?

Nobody though this team would be good. Nearly everyone expected a very average team to finish around 7-8th in the Big 12. Please post where you thought this KSU team would win 0 conference games. tia.

I like how Frank talks. That should be enough.

well, we are probably going to finish around there and you know that.

Frank wasn't left scraps. He wasn't part of some "new" staff that came in. He knew he was going to have to play the '09/10 season without two NBA'ers (if he didn't he's f*cking stupid), yet all he got to weather the storm of this year was Awaji and Abdul (who's f'ing gone now). Comparing everything to Wooly is great at all, but it's kind of like being happy we won 5 games in football this year because we didn't win that many games from '85-'89 combined. Where Wooly left us isn't where we should be at considering that the North is the worst it's probably ever been. No NIT this year would be beyond disappointing. Because if these piles of dogsh*t can't muster the NIT, then f*ck it, fire Frank and start over because adding Judge and McGruder and Kelly isn't going to help Jake or Fred or Ron or Sutton if they suck this bad. Those HS additions aren't that great that they'll be that impactful until they are juniors (which is when Jake and Co will be gone).

hahaha. you were doing well until you started melting down about the future. what do you expect w/a new coaching regime? Frank will probaly go 6-10 this year, to go to 20-20 overall for his career. He will probably go 9-7 the next year and 10-6 after that. Sorry dude, but I cannot ask for more than that.
And having zero from the 06 and 05 classes doesn't help either.

this team will not be 3 games better next year. and that's my point. if the players suck this bad, then there's no hope because Wally and Rodney aren't that good. And Kelly? Who the f knows about him. UConn didn't fight to keep him at all. They said good riddance. And, as you said earlier, other teams aren't just sitting around either.
this isn't a "new" regime. they didn't have to pick up pieces, they didn't have to scramble for recruiting purposes, they were already in place.
-
it's perfectly fine to blame martin for recruiting crap in '08. and for helping huggins recruit crap in the spring of '07.
not rational to blame him for not coaching up the crap players he has.

Well, I think they've earned the right to see what happens next year.

maybe, but the 05 and 06 recruiting classes were complete disasters. 05 and 06 weren't the fault of martin, but whatever. i guess you can blame 06 on him. :blank:

Yeah ...Doc had some really great talent on his team...so with that rationality I guess Nebraska had three 5 star recruits playing at all times.

this is what I'm pissed at. thanks sys. the "coaching" is fairly irrelevant.

dude, have you never watched big 12 bball? crap road team always loses to crap home team. you have to have, like, two levels of talent higher than the home team to win on the road.

Yeah, the University of Underwater Seafishing in Baltimore Maryland (or whatever f'd up name team beat them that sucks) was just loaded with talent. Doc was a genius then.
When NU comes to Manhattan and gets waxed, Doc will look stupid.

Yeah right...it still comes down to not throwing the ball away or dribbling it off your foot. And I suppose you guard the back door layups diffently at home vs the road...It seems that Frank had no idea what to expect going into that game.
You dont get beat by 20 on the road by a pathetic team unless you are not prepared. And who is in charge of getting the team prepared
-

yeah, no question. the mov should have been less.

What about the way Martin talks?

He could do something about that, no question. Embarrassing.

i like the way he talks. no change needed.

I don't. I like the way Doc talks. Just different tastes I guess.

Question: Did anyone actually watch the whole game? If you could dot that you must not do this :angryMJ: during games.

Yes. Sat through the entire thing. Soaked it all in. Second half was very relaxing because the outcome was determined. Got to mingle with the townys and whatnot.

Did you think it would be this easy.... let me point out the irony.
Huggins was a get rich quick hire. He jilted you in a year and in the following get rich quick scheme ksu hired his henchmen. Too quick to have actually given legitimate thought to any other candidates. Both times all we see are ksu fans singing praises of their new coaches. Both times every other fanbase in the world was laughing.
Now, after large quantities of failure, you're finally coming to the realization that it wasn't quite going to be that easy. As if you weren't saying otherwise previously. Martin was supposed to be a damn good coach with outstanding recruiting. That was the groupthink at the time. It was 'the best possible hire at this point.'

incredibly revisionist. and it really doesn't take into consideration what the program would look like right now (worse than CU) if we didn't hire Martin. The alternatives to hiring Martin are in Columbia, Ames, Boulder, and Lincoln right now.

Interesting stat: Frank Martin has one more NCAA tourney win than the Nebrasketball program all time.
