Title: KSU alums playing pro Ball
Post by: RobDerhak on January 16, 2009, 11:21:30 PM
So, I'm bored, and I've often wondered what happened to our 'stars' the Wooly era...

Cartier Martin

PLaying in the NBA D-LEAGUE.  He's currently listed as the #7 ranked D-League "Call Up Candidate" by DraftExpress.com

Jeremiah Massey

Currently playing for Real Madrid in the EuroLeague.  named the 2007-08 Euroleague Week 3 and 20 MVP...played the 2007 Greek All Star Game...

According to Wikipedia, the Celtics have expressed interest in signing him (but it isn't cited)

http://www.eurobasket.com/player.asp?Cntry=GER&PlayerID=72921 (http://www.eurobasket.com/player.asp?Cntry=GER&PlayerID=72921) - Peete looks to be having a stellar season in EuroBall (5.9 ppg... WOW!)... Hopefully he's at least getting to play the point.

http://southdragons.com/default.aspx?s=playerprofile&id=666&team=dragons (http://southdragons.com/default.aspx?s=playerprofile&id=666&team=dragons) - Cortez groves has been playing down under (in Australia for those whose minds might claim residence in the gutter), but according to Wikipedia (anyone can edit it, so it has to be true, right?) he was dropped from his team after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury.

http://gilsondejesus.blogspot.com/ (http://gilsondejesus.blogspot.com/) - Gilson DeJesus appears to be playing basketball in "Atleta Profissional Basketball".. Beyond that, I can't understand a word and I'm too lazy to paste the text into a translator.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Virginia_Outlaws (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/West_Virginia_Outlaws) - While it may sound like a cruel joke, Wikipedia claims that Marques Hayden is playing for the Outlaws, an ABA team in West Virginia. Alas, it's unfortunate that he only has two teammates, according to this Wikipedia page. ... Naturally, things don't add up. The ABA doesn't list the West Virginia Outlaws as a team at all. There is, however, the West Virginia Wild, http://www.hometeamsonline.com/teams/default.asp?u=WESTVIRGINIAWILD&t=c&s=basketball&p=roster (http://www.hometeamsonline.com/teams/default.asp?u=WESTVIRGINIAWILD&t=c&s=basketball&p=roster), but "Mad Dog" isn't found on that roster. Oh Marques, where art thou?

http://www.eurobasket.com/player.asp?Cntry=ita&PlayerID=46601 (http://www.eurobasket.com/player.asp?Cntry=ita&PlayerID=46601) - To complete our lineup, we have Pervis Pasco, averaging 9.5 ppg for an Italian squad. Take a good look at his stat line, and focus on his free throw percentage - 28.3-percent? He must still have his right arm extended with his index finger in the air when he's shooting those.

I am willing to bet your list of players that are playing pro ball while wooly was your coach is probably smaller than ours.

... but wait, there's more on the alumni front...

http://www.asia-basket.com/player.asp?Cntry=KSA&PlayerID=90995 (http://www.asia-basket.com/player.asp?Cntry=KSA&PlayerID=90995) - Akeem Wright is playing for United Arab Emirates... That's all that I'm privy to, as I'm too cheap to pay that website 34-cents a day. (That's a third of a Whopper Jr.)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Ellis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Ellis) - Tim Ellis is practicing magic an illusion in Australia... He also looks a bit different than his playing days... Wait, no... http://www.sunkings.com/sunkings/index.html (http://www.sunkings.com/sunkings/index.html) Tim Ellis played for the Yakima Sun Kings of the CBA last season. Unfortunately, the link to their stats is not functioning. Things like that would almost make you think that the CBA isn't profitable... Crazy.

http://www.basketballbeyondborders.com/Players%20Profile%20%20pages/Player_Profile_Jarrett%20Hart.htm (http://www.basketballbeyondborders.com/Players%20Profile%20%20pages/Player_Profile_Jarrett%20Hart.htm) - Jarrett Hart is playing for Keravnos Strovolou in Cyprus. Oddly, they say he has good speed for both guard positions and has a knack for getting to the rim... I don't remember speed and explosiveness being characteristics of his game.

http://www.eurobasket.com/player.asp?Cntry=FIN&PlayerID=39041 (http://www.eurobasket.com/player.asp?Cntry=FIN&PlayerID=39041) - Frank Richards is averaging over 18 ppg in Finland... I guess we should have schedule some Finnish opponents in Wooly's run.

http://www.eurobasket.com/SWE/d1.asp (http://www.eurobasket.com/SWE/d1.asp) Manny "Emmanuel" Dies has taken his game to Sweden and was 1st team All Swedish League in 2006-2007. It looks like he also got second place in a dunk contest.

http://www.eurobasket.com/player.asp?Cntry=FRA&PlayerID=50233 (http://www.eurobasket.com/player.asp?Cntry=FRA&PlayerID=50233) - Kelvin Howell is putting up 10 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in France. Well, a Kelvin Howell is, at least. I'm sick of this website and its continual begging for 34 cents.

http://www.eurobasket.com/ROM/d1.asp (http://www.eurobasket.com/ROM/d1.asp) - Elliot Hatcher was 2nd team All Romanian League in 2004-2005. Romanian League basketball - acesta este fantastic!
