Title: First major recruiting target for 2010?
Post by: power4PURPLE on January 03, 2009, 01:14:38 AM
This just in from San Antonio where, for those of you who don't know already, not only is the home to the Army All American Game this morning, but also the Combine to showcase next year's invites/possibilities. It usually houses the best of the best for the upcoming football season, and what do you know, K-State was mentioned!

Quote
Recruiting news comes out of Army Combine
Plantation, Fla., athlete Gilbert St. Louis said Florida State is showing him the most interest, but Florida, North Carolina, Kansas State and Alabama are involved.

Yeah good chance a kid from Florida will come to KSU with all those Florida schools surrounding him. Keep dreaming.

power4purple generaly kids are only looking at one to two schools and the rest are just there to fill up the list. This early in the recruiting process for a 2010 recruit all that probably means is that KSU is one of the few schools who has officially offered him at this time.

i get what you mean. but i was more excited by the mention than anything else. the fact that we're getting out there and going for kids like these says something about the direction of this staff. with CoshKo, we now have some coaches and a style that kids might want to play for. And after Utah's performance, maybe the same can be said on offense too.  :kstatriot:

Tell me you are not trying to compare McCay, Lucas, and Terry to this kid.

yeah, yeah, who wants to pile up on local 6'2"-6'4" receivers when we'll be thin there after '09 and go after a 5'10" athlete from fl that can't even run a 4.4 forty.

didn't say i didn't want the locals. but if you honestly believe you could put those 3 in the sunshine state and have them compete like they do against the po-dunk opponents they do in KC, you've lost it.
why not just take all 4 and be happy? and who cares about timed 40's. florida kids are always fast. they chase rabbits... rabbits.

So a kid can only be a high-major target if he's from FL, TX or CA?  Take a look at McCay's offer list.

McCay is Miege's equivalent to Travis Releford in football. He's just a body; kid with a good frame to mold. I saw him play against Blue Valley last fall and watched a senior white kid that is a better pitcher than a football player shut him down for the most part. So yes, I would take a high major guy from Florida, Texas, California, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Louisiana, and others over a high profile recruit from Kansas 9 out of 10 times.

So would you put him in the top ten athletes that Kansas has to offer next year?
