Title: Tough Break For The Jayhawks
Post by: pissclams on December 16, 2008, 10:34:54 PM
Mario Little, the JUCO player of the year, broke his hand in practice today.  He will be missed as he was slotted to fill the slasher role that the Jayhawks are desperately needing.  Little was just cleared to practice last week after suffering a bone fracture over a month ago.  Sounds like he'll be out at least another 6 weeks (4 to heal, 2 to practice) before seeing any PT this season.

but, no matter what they say, it can't have anywhere near the effect of losing david hoskins for the full year and our 'secret weapon' big lou injured all last year (AND we beat them anyway)

Freak injuries?  Or not?

Quote
"I like Kansas quite a bit," he said. "Kansas State has been telling me a lot of good stuff and they are an up and coming program. I really like the coaches at Kansas State, too. And Illinois is close to home so I've always liked them."

You had your chance Mario.  I hope future recruits are getting the message.

Complete 180 for God from his previous stance on only punishing player's children and innocent old ladys.  Obviously he realized his message wasn't getting across.

He's out 4 weeks...2 weeks until he can start practicing with limited contact.   :ku:

Plus, even without Little ku will win the north and possibly the league title again.  Good luck though to all you mildcats.  I really am impressed with Kent and Colon.

Win the north?  fracking moron.

who is going to challenge ku?

they have two of the best players in the league, one of the best freshmen and the best coach.  In fact they have a huge advantage over OU and Texas coming from the north as far as the conference title.

I'll tell you what: why don't we save these posts and re-visit them once conference play has concluded?   :ku:

the 05-06 team started 3-4 and lost to arkansas who wasn't as good as UMASS...yet they still shared the conference title.

This team is already better than the 05-06 team as far as running the offense and team defense goes.

well, since ou and texas only play ku once and they play each other twice I think the 'challenge' is that even if ku loses to both of them they could win the league.

Here's the deal IMO.  ku fans like to look back on 06 and 03 and think that this team is going to do the same.  That may very well be, but IMO this team a) isn't as talented, b) doesn't have the leadership and c) those teams didn't lose to anyone as dreadful as UMass in their early season struggles.  I think this team will be much more like the 99 team that also lost to a bad UMass team in the OOC.  And that league had no one as strong as this year's UT and OU teams IMO and probably not as strong as this year's BU.

UMass will not finish 21-8 and 10-6 in their league and most certainly won't be a Top 50 RPI team.  This will be ku's worst OOC loss since the last time they lost to UMass and probably their worst loss in the last 10 years at least.

I'm not desperate.  I just don't think they are overly impressive right now.  But as I've said, a few ku teams have started out like that in the past and become pretty good basketball teams.  I just don't think this one has near the ceiling either one of those teams had and its why I think they compare more favorably to the 99 team than 03 and 06.  This has nothing to do with any K-State bias on my part.

Syracuse is a veteran team that unless they lose devendorf should be a solid top 25 team.  The game was at the sprint center...the jayhawks play at allen fieldhouse.

sorry to be rational and factual here.

i'm just saying ku has some weaknesses and that's rare for them.  this year is a rebuilding year for them, like it has been for us for the last two decades - but now that we're back on track it's going to be smooth sailing.

Have to agree with 'clams, there. Does uk have good players? Without a doubt. Does uk have a good team? Not yet. So far uk hasn't shown the consistent ability to function as a team. That will come with experience, maybe. It could be that this particular team will never gel into a championship contender. It may take uk several years to rebuild the program into what they had last year. Only time will tell. If I were a uk fan, I would be concerned that this team hits the .500 plateau this year. FWIW.

A)Syracuse wasn't a top 25 team
B)game was hardly away from home

I know it is neutral for NCAA purposes, but don't act like it was actually neutral.

you can view it however you want I guess but you are wrong and deep down you know it.

Syracuse is a veteran team that unless they lose devendorf should be a solid top 25 team.  The game was at the sprint center...the jayhawks play at allen fieldhouse.

sorry to be rational and factual here.

Factual?  SYRACUSE WAS NOT IN THE TOP 25 WHEN THEY BEAT uk.  That is a fact.  you said they were then backtracked and said they should be a solid top 25 team.
uk also plays home games at kansas city, against the likes of UMASS, and loses.  it isn't their home court but it was hardly away from home.  45 min = hardly away from home.  exactly what i said.

Done now. You sir, are a tool.
