it isn't his fault that we didn't run until the fourth quarter. he averaged 8.8 ypc w/ 132 yards rushing and 34 yards recieving. he made up for over half of our offense.. plus one touchdown. tgun did fine..

Those look like pretty good stats to me. Yeah, the long run pads the stats, but he wasn't ineffective. The problem, becomes more obvious that the O-Line needs to get better to help open up holes. On his long run, the Offense executed perfectly. We need them to do more than just one a game.

I thought he ran much harder after the long run.

I think he might be neutral ned.
I just thought it was kind of weird how the play calling went today. We never really committed to a continuance of the mismatches with Clayton that we exploited the hell out of in the first quarter. Then we realized Mastrud not= to Norwood after his 5th drop and started throwing in Pittsburg gadget plays and flying duck bombs.
weird.

Same here. We were talking about that at the watch party.
-
someone made a comment that Meier wasn't the same after his arm got rocked during the piick to end the half.

he looks to me very much like a fast athlete that has absolutely no RB instincts and runs much too upright.......hmm......Frank Murph II?
He did show some nice hands. Perhaps I was too harsh at first..

I made the comment to myself after the first two plays were Meier got speared that there is no way he is going to last an entire season of this.
Freeman holds the ball too long. If we want to get rid of Meier, fine, but let's really think about what we are getting in return and what Freeman is going to look like back there.
He took two sacks in limited snaps and Meier didn't take one all day, that should tell you something.
-
What is it with these Meier boys and their shoulders/arms? Birth defects?
-
Freeman can hold the ball longer because he can deliver a rocket.
At least, that's all I could think of as a reason.
Yes, he needs to learn how to go through his progressions quicker.

It shows you how smart he is for someone his age. That, in turn, is an indication of how much potential he has...once he gets some playing time.

I agree that Meier should've taken a sack instead of trowing that pick, but Freeman's "freak athleticism" really hasn't done much for him in the pocket. That was my point. Also, he holds the ball much too long. He will take a ton of sacks this year if he plays sig. minutes.

Clayton probably was our offensive MVP, the problem is that I think I'dstill put him on the negative side of the ledger. There's no doubt in my mind that he ran much harder after the TD. We can't afford to wait that long.

Pretty much my thinking. Just because he was the best part of a messy back-room abortion doesn't really win him that many points in my book.
If he wants to give himself nicknames and be a vocal team leader he needs to step the &@#% up.

Prince was overheard yelling at T-Gun. He said something to the effect of "quit juking, you are not that good!" Next play T-Gun hits the whole runs for a td. If Clayton would just run North right through the holes he could get at least 4 yds per carry regardless of how crapty our O line is.

seems to me like we couldnt establish the run so we gave up on it. when louisvillle had figured this out and the game was out of hand anyways, then clayton gets some yards. he is not a starting running back for a bcs school.

wasn't he originally going to Florida State??

didnt he have to transfer b/c he realized he wouldnt play there? also the key was starting running back.

Clayton is perfectly capable of being a starting running back at the Big12 level. He just needs a good line (something we don't have) and to be able to run straight through the holes. Anyway, I don't see why were are complaining about this, he is gone after ten more games.

Clayton = Florida State's leftovers. He wasn't good enough to play there so who should we be excited about him coming here? Answer: We shouldn't.
