Not only is Southern a decent squad that could push us, but then there is this from the latest K-Stated...
Kansas State assistant sports information director Tom Gilbert just said 6,500 tickets have been sold for tomorrow night’s game in Kansas City
:cactus:

Fact of the matter is that if you live in the KC area and don't make it out to Manhattan often for games, this is prime time!
First, it's the Cats, and any fan would jump at the chance to see them for a relatively low price.
Second, it's the Sprint Center and if you haven't been in yet- WOW! You honestly will feel like you aren't in KC anymore-that is if you ever visited Kemper Arena (Just look below)

Finally, last year there was one major drawing point that wasn't yet completed. This year- not the case. (Also look below)

So there's my pitch to get people to go. And for students, c'mon, it's dead week. Unless you have something reallllly important Friday you can't miss, why not make the drive and take a night off from studying?
Here's the link. $25 tix. Click away! http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0600414DC5F98623?artistid=845267&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=7 (http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0600414DC5F98623?artistid=845267&majorcatid=10004&minorcatid=7)

Heck, I don't think there's any excuse for people in Manhattan not to go.
I can get not wanting to drive to manhattan on a weeknight, but c'mon, KC is big time.

I think for basketball it is. No casual fan in KC is going to make a 2 hour drive for a weeknight game.
It could help with football, though.
But this is different (and I know you know  )

the team sucks. putting ads in the KC Star or buying time on 810 won't change that. Like some guy's going to say "oh, I wasn't going to go to the game, but now that I heard an ad for it, I will."

that doesn't explain it. 45000 rednecks show up every weekend to watch a terrible football team.

That kid looks a lot like my two year old.
Better start training him up.

bs! ever seen the movie hoosiers? rednecks hate stuff they (or their school) aren't good at doing.

Speaking of the game against Cal . . . there was like 52,000 there, and about 5 of them were Cal fans. I also think part of the problem was some people still remembered the horror of the Iowa game at Arrowhead and 111 degrees.
But yeah, marketing to the highest concentration of K-State alums in the world is just stupid . . . thanks Tim Weiser for that brilliance.
-
If I were a casual fan, I'd have no idea the cats were playing in KC.

not every weekend....only about 6 over a 3 month period. And it's much easier to travel on a Saturday than Mon - Thurs. Try putting the ISU football game this year on a Thurs night in Manhattan....we wouldn't have gotten 45K there.
we've sucked at basketball for like 18 years. one good season was going to change the fans' behavior? We act like there was a packed house for the '89 North Texas win. Those 'necks were packing the Bram back then....why? Because they were fresh off 3 NCAA tourney appearances (an Elite 8).

Really sucked that this couldn't have been on a weekend or even a friday

Starting practicing your voicemail now:
If needed-to coworkers/boss covering for you: (beep 4 coughs hacking style and a sneeze . . . raspy barely audible voice), "Hey I just wanted to let you know" (clear throat loudly as if hacking up both lungs) "I am really sick, I am gonna take one for the team because I don't want you all to catch what I have, I'll see you next (blow nose loudly) . . . week" . . . hang up, but rattle the phone around like you can barely reach the phone cradle (note call from landline to avoid any suspicious thoughts that you didn't actually make it home).

...and make sure to call early before your boss is in the office...you can always go back to sleep after you make the call...
