Title: Positions
Post by: Waggs on December 07, 2008, 11:36:24 AM
Here are some guys that it'll be interesting to see what position they end up at under Snyder & Co.:

Tysyn Hartman-I think he should stay at S, but maybe he'd get a look at QB or WR

Antonio Felder-He should be a solid DE in the 2-deep with a 4-3 look

Alex Hrebec-Any chance he fills in at FB?

Jayson Cuba-I think he may be our starting FB...who else gets a look at this position, Rohleder?

Dahrnaz Tigner-S or LB?

Zach Kendall-started out as a DT under Snyder, does he get moved back to defense?

Nick Stringer-guy is a small T, we're short on depth at TE, could he be added as a blocking TE and one we use in 2 TE sets?

Joseph Kassanavoid & Collin Klein-will they stick around?  If so, will they be at QB or other positions?

Lamark Brown-As always, a big and controversial question mark.  I think it is time for him to go to LB...at the very beginning of spring practice

Jarell Childs-Other than Cuba, he may be a leading candidate at FB.  However, he could also have a chance of seeing time at LB...as I heard he excelled at LB in HS.

Logan Dold-I think he'll be a S and a redshirt may be a good idea to give him time to adjust (and since we'll likekly have a lot of experience there with Hartman, Carney, and Herndon).

Justin Woods-In my opinion, he should have always been slated to play CB.  Hopefully, he'll think that's a good idea as well.

Daniel Thomas (assuming he gets here)-I think he may be given a shot at QB this spring.  If he isn't set to be the man (or strongly in the running) at that position, it's tough to know exactly where he'll end up.  With his size and athleticism he could play QB, RB, WR, S, or even LB.

Nope.

He's our best LB. :flush:

I doubt Lamark Brown goes to LB.

They both are transferring out of here.

Agreed. This needs to be done. The kid doesn't even cut it as third string RB.

Believe Woods left the team mid-season. Also, I wouldn't count on Kassanavoid leaving despite what has been previously reported. Snyder really, really likes him and I would look for him to start next year if Freeman leaves.

Prince asked him to come with him when he leaves (god only knows where to)

I've heard that Kassanavoid tore it up on the scout team.  Against our defense from this past season, that may not be saying much.  Nevertheless, it sounds like he's got some talent.

Prolly has more heart than Josh too.  I think your idea of redshirting Josh is brilliant.  He needs to be taken down a peg or two.

We don't need our QB to be a prima donna, that's not the K-State Way.

The Bill will do what is correct.

Hartman- Stays at safety quit moving the kid around already and let him develop
Fedler- for sure a DE in the 4-3 moved to DE at the end of last year
Hrebec- Stays at LB he might be the best we have
Cuba- Agreed he'll play FB
Tigner- He'll play WLB probably
Kendall- He's an OL one of our best returners won't move to defense
Stringer- See Kendall above he's probably our best OL won't move to TE will be asked to gain weight
Kassonvoid and Klein- Not sure if they stay will probably get shots at QB.  maybe Kassonvoid could play TE if he doesn't work out at QB.  Klein is pretty fast so he might fit Bill's system.
Brown- Either back to WR or to LB.  Not totally sure on him.  I feel for the kid he's been jerked around but he's no RB and needs to play somewhere else.
Childs- I think he started practicing at safety last year.  Have not seen him can't say for sure.
Dold- I think he'll stay at RB because we're so thin there but hopefully he's no higher then 3rd string.
Woods- I don't think he's a big 12 caliber player at any position.  Might try CB but I doubt he sticks around.
Thomas- May get a look at QB but I think he'll play RB.   Might get snaps at QB in the "wildcat" formation which I think you'll see us use.

WTF are you smokin? I agree with your comments a majority of the time but to say stringer is one of our best returing OL is just

I never said  he was good but look at what we have coming back?  He's the only decent tackle we have on the roster.  Did you watch the games when Unruh tried to play tackle and when Freeze was in at guard?

If Freeman leaves, the talk was that Klein had the inside track to be QB next year.  Supposedly, he has QB "smarts" and tools.  I was scared Prince was going to yank his RS when he announced he was canned.

We'll see if Snyder sticks with Kassanavoid at QB, but word is that he has a mean streak -- too much to be a QB.  So, if he beefs up, he's a DE candidate.  If not, WR.

both klein and kassanavoid sound like they suck. Freeman is our only chance at anything next year.

Have we ever had a scout team QB who didn't tear it up?

The back-up QB job at Kansas State University is always the sweetest gig on the planet...Everyone knows that you're way better than the starter so you're beloved by all. But...you never have to prove it...except when you actually do have to prove it(see Jeff Schwinn in 2003)
