Title: BCA grades for minority hiring improve

NCAA Division I universities fared better this year in considering minority football coaching candidates, the Black Coaches Association said Thursday.

Kansas State, which hired a black coach, received a B.

Kansas State received a lower overall grade because it received an F for the composition of its search committee.

The BCA, for the first time this year, instituted a policy that says schools with a D or F in any category cannot receive an overall A.

The current minority head coaches in Division I-A are: Mississippi State's Sylvester Croom, UCLA's Karl Dorrell, Buffalo's Turner Gill, Kansas State's Ron Prince and Washington's Tyrone Willingham. Gill and Prince were hired this year.

We are getting an F because we didn't strictly search for a black coach???

We got an F because no black people were on the search committee.  Stupid Weiser!

Are there any black people in our AD that are not coaches?

The fact that you can hire a black coach and get anything less than an A+ shows what a farce this really is.

Someone needs to call Jackie Chills.
I wonder what grade Coach Prince would give us (he is a teacher after all).

In order to get an "A" Weiser's football search committe should have consisted of himself, Marvin Simmons, and Jesse Tetuan.

I hope Weiser disassociates the BCA.

You know it's ass-nine rules/statements such as "you did not have a minority on the search committee" that make me think you should just chuck the whole thing. Fact of the matter is KSU apparently made a list of what was needed and went after it and had the guts to adjust that list to the talent and interest available. It is also apparent, regardless of what opinion, ADTW had the foresight to take a chance on a rookie coach (and I should note here this is not to say I am a big fan or opponent of ADTW). To me the opinion he should of cared about was FSnyder. I'm not saying Prince is the perfect catch or hire or whatever. IMHO he appears to fit and shows well for KSU. I am encouraged that his system will work and we will be successful. Whether he's black, blue, green or whatever is really not the point. As long as he bleeds purple and is not red or blue is fine by me.

First we get accolades for the hire now we are told we did not practice or go about the hire in what the BCA says is thier "prescribed" way. Does it really matter as long as we got the right person for KSU.

EMAW and the "color" of choice is PURPLE.

they don't care if we hire a good coach or not. they want us to hire a black coach. and we have a better grade as of now then 95 percent of the div.1 universities..

Who cares about the BCA in the first place?  I'd kind of be proud to receive an overall F from them, you bunch of ass kissers.

God, ku's chancellor is &@#%ing hideous.  The kind of hideous where you can't look away, even though you want to.  Like a fatal car wreck.
